There were only two plays today where I was disgusted with McCarthy.

3rd and 2 and 3rd and 3.

The formation was shotgun and nobody in the backfield but Aaron Rodgers. There wasn't even a hint of a possible run. It was the Packers showing their cards. They didn't convert either.

Those have to stop. I don't get and I never will. The defensive can just tee off on the QB when they see that formation. It's ridiculous.

I said the same thing while watching the game! So sad...

I think mm is to be given SOME leeway, because of the injury situation, but the team has been struggling since Week 1.

Regardless, this play call was inexcusable, as it has failed 100% of the time and puts the QB at risk.

I'm not mad, nor sad. I didn't think we'd win and don't think we will next week either. It's easier to handle a loss when it's expected. The earlier loss against the Bears, looking back, that one bothers me more than this one.

I agree 100%. The past 7 days since Finley went down have been a big transition. I used to have high expectations, and now I just anticipate a loss while hoping for the best.

To some extent I fault Ted/Mike for the awful play at tackle, and for not having the depth or willingness to bring in a Lynch or other RB...but even then, is it worth upgrading from a 25hp motor on your musky boat to a 50hp when it already leaks? The Zombos, CJ Wilsons, Quarless, and Shields were meant to be special teams long term projects, not starters 1 year out of college!

what pisses me off is the stick the course attitude. The injuries are an excuse but I have seen no change in our gameplan. Where are the obvious adjustments to compensate for the loss of players on offense? I did not see it. To be honest I don't know whether to blame Mike McCarthy or Aaron Rodgers but someone is delusional for all the long plays down the field. I know it worked once today with Jennings. But how many 3 and outs did the same philosophy cost us?

"Zero2Cool" wrote:

Cranks me up, too. But as musccy said, is that McCarthy, or is it Rodgers? My assumption (I don't claim to be an offensive genius) is that most plays likely include a short, medium, and downfield option. Is Rodgers just not taking the shorter options? Are they being covered? I know if I were gameplanning against the Packers I'd lock down those secondary routes precisely because I'd expect the Pack to use them, given the protection issues. Seems to me that would be the smart move - make Rodgers try to go downfield, even though he doesn't really have time to do so.

So are we sure those shorter routes weren't simply being taken away? I'm asking, not arguing. I was painting a room and wasn't dissecting every play, so that's why I ask the question.

It's not just the play calling, it's the lack of motivation that MM appears to
impart on this team this bothers me with him.

I think it's becoming increasingly obvious why the 49ers drafted Alex Smith over Aaron Rodgers. Smith played in a spread offense in college, while Aaron Rodgers played in a pro-style offense (and excelled in it, I might add). Mike McCarthy seems enamored of the spread-style offense, even though this team clearly doesn't have the offensive line assets to run it and these formations expose his quarterback to serious danger. If Mike McCarthy is so hell-bent on running a spread offense, he needs to acquire the assets required to run it properly or leave for a team equipped to run it safely. As far as I'm concerned, his bullheadedness in trying to shoehorn this offense into his style instead of adapting his style to the offense amounts to something closely approximating negligence.

And no, I'm not saying this because the Packers are losing. I was complaining about this last year too, even in the midst of their 7-1 streak. Aaron Rodgers is exposed in empty-backfield, shotgun sets entirely too often, and I'm afraid it's going to shorten his career. Put him under center once in a while, for godsake. Or at least for Aaron's sake.

I know the offenses problems and I could fix them. The reason is I drafted Rodgers with the the 1st overall pick in the Packershome fantasy football lol.

So someone want to make me a decent trade and the offense will start rolling again 😛
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

dfosterf (16-Apr) : Trade, cut or keep
dfosterf (16-Apr) : that from Jaire
dfosterf (16-Apr) : My guess is the Packers floated the concept of a reworked contract via his agent and agent got a f'
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Yes, and that is why I think Rob worded it how he did. Rather than say "agent"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Same laws apply. Agent must present such an offer to Jaire. Cannot accept or reject without presenting it
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : I'm thinking that is why Rob worded it how he did.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The Packers can certainly still make the offer to the agent
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Laws of agency and definition of fiduciary responsibility
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Jaire is open to a reduced contract without Jaire's permission
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The agent would arguably violate the law if he were to tell the Packers
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : That someone ... likely the agent.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : So, Jaire has not been offered nor rejected a pay reduction, but someone says he'd decline.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovksy says t was direct communication with someone familiar with Jaire’s line of thinking at that moment.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovsky just replied to me a bit ago. Jaire hasn't said it.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Of course, that depends on the definition of "we"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : We have been told that they haven't because he wouldn't accept it. I submit we don't know that
dfosterf (16-Apr) : What is the downside in making a calculated reduced offer to Jaire?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers are receiving interest in Jaire Alexander but a trade is not imminent
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Jalen Ramsey wants to be traded. He's never happy is he?

dfosterf (14-Apr) : Maybe send a crew of Angels to the Packers draft room on draft day.
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I am the Angel that gets visited.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Visiting Angels has a pretty good reputation
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : what
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : WINNING IT, not someone else losing it. The best victory though was re-uniting with his wife

Mucky Tundra (2-Apr) : Who?
