I know the line is the problem, I just don't get why is the o-line the problem.

It used to be lack of experience but we have a good mix of rookies / vets / 3-4 year players. What's the problem, could it be the offensive scheme we're running? Are the players not playing to their potential or they just suck? Is it the coaches that are not getting them ready for there opponents?

I just don't get what the problem is that we can't get a good o-line to protect Aaron Rodgers and give him some time to make a play without actually running out of his pocket.

I'm really confused, Ted Thompson pretty much cleaned up the o-line we had when he came to town which in my opinion I think it was a very good idea. He draft good potential kids but why aren't they panning out?

IMO the o-line problem is the coaching, they aren't being groomed good enough.

I don't know I'm really clueless what's your opinion guys?

My quick assesment without rewatching the game is the Oline has gotten better at run blocking and worse at pass protecting (mainly the edges). Hate to do it, but I have to give McCarthy a little credit. He has stopped with the Zone stretch plays Jackson sucks at and has us running into more designed holes inside which he has been running well.

I think the Tackes are the problem. Colledge seems to be spending 1/2 his time watching for Cliftont to mis so he can get back and cover. Bulaga just needs time.

Even on a designed roll out they could barely keep the pressure off of Aaron. When you can't protect on a designed moving pocket, there's a problem. I feel the run blocking is better, as has been stated already, but that pass protection...I just don't get it. Not to mention Bulaga getting hammered, and the outright refusal to give him help of any sort sickens me.

First of all, I no as much about women as OL, but in my opinion we have some capable offensive lineman who are poorly coached. When you are flagged for holding, false starts, etc ... I believe that's a coaching issue and its on James Campen.

Sometimes a hold is a good thing, like if you got beat and your QB is gonna get murdered, HOLD then and only then.

False starts are focus and self discipline issues.

Our OL needs better coaching before it needs better players.

I have always disagreed with the coaching and penalties thing. If it is the coaches, how come Clifton is a notorious career penalty guy and Tauscher was known for not commiting them? Under the same coaches for their entier pro careers.

I agree that it is mostly the tackles who are the problem. Clifton and Tauscher seem to be hitting the wall at the same time. I doubt that either of them will be back next season, even if they make it through this year. And so far Bulaga has not been a competent replacement for Tauscher.

I think it's impossible to tell whether the poor play is the fault of the players or the coaches. Certainly you have to wonder about the coaching when so many players perform below their potential over the course of several years.

We have a LT who gets in maybe 1 day of practice a week every week and a RT who is a rookie and was a LT the entire season until 2 weeks ago.

For all the talk the coaching staff did on their offensive line depth this year they sure are hesitant to use it when some of their starters are obviously struggling. Maybe this time things aren't going to just work themselves out and some changes are in order, unfortunately I don't see that happening unless someone gets hurt.

If coaches make the player accountable for their mistakes, they don't happen anymore, or the player finds new work.

James Campen has been coaching them their entire career? I admit, I did not know that. I do know that the scheme is different and that fact is huge.

I don't remember Clifton or Tauscher being notorious for getting flagged.

Rule changes have been made since they entered the league. Who's responsible for teaching the rules and how to make changes to them?

FYI - James Campen was OL QC from 2004-2005. He got promoted to Assistant OL coach in 2006. Then OL Coach 2007 on.

Clifton has been good for 1 false start a game his entier career, Tauscher averages 3 per season. Night and day difference between them.

And Coaches can say and do everything, in the end it is up to the players. And in todays game, coaches really are not able to do to much, can't fine because the NFLPA would be all over them, can't benched because your job depends on winnnig and you don't do that with the best players on the bench.
