Are you kidding me?

http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/Randy-Moss-trade-New-England-Patriots-Minnesota-Vikings-100510

The Minnesota Vikings are attempting to pull off their biggest blockbuster since acquiring Brett Favre.

FOXSports.com has learned that the Minnesota Vikings and New England Patriots have been in serious trade talks and are very close to a deal that would send All-Pro wide receiver Randy Moss back to the team that drafted him.

However, Patriots sources say the deal is contigent upon Moss working out a contract with the Vikings. All sides are still trying to hammer out the contract Tuesday.

In a 41-point outburst Monday night over the Dolphins, Moss caught zero passes, and he has made his displeasure known with his contract status in New England.

Moss, 33, was a first-round pick of the Vikings in 1998 and shined for several years before being shipped to Oakland in 2005. The four-time All-Pro and seven-time Pro Bowl selection was traded from the Raiders to the Patriots on Day 1 of the 2007 NFL draft in exchange for a fourth-round pick in the 07 draft.

In his first three seasons in New England, Moss caught 250 passes for 3,765 yards and 47 touchdowns. In 2010, he has nine catches for 139 yards and three touchdowns.

The Vikings have been searching for a star-caliber receiver and were unable to pick up Chargers wide receiver Vincent Jackson.

3 years too late for that Combo to be frightening.

If anything, I could see Favre FORCING a lot of balls Randy's way, getting picked off a lot, then blaming MOSS for the picks! God that would be hilarious.

I just hope this blows up in their desperate faces. Players will be screaming for new contracts, their offensive line will keep blowing, and Favre will force. Oh will he force it. Maybe this is a good thing.

Whether we think it is going to help or not.. if these "talks" bear fruit in the terms of a deal, the Vikings have done something more than us about the holes on their roster. There is something said for swinging for the fences.. especially in their situation.. the window is closing for that group of players.. and they need to add firepower to their passing game.. this would do that.

Like it or not.. gotta give them credit for such a move.

I think it has become clear to the Vikings that Favre was basically dragged back this year because he felt he owed the team. His heart hasn't been in it. So they go for broke and try this ridiculous shit to excite their QB. It's kind of sad. I wonder what they are giving up.

How is it ridiculous?

They have a major roster hole on the team.. lack of receivers to take pressure off the line.. and they have a roster that to be honest is probably in its final year of a run.. why not go for broke?

Pat Williams more than likely done.

Brett.. should be done.

Hutch might be done.. the only real force on that line.. although LoadHolt is developing.

Ray Edwards probably moves on.

Those are important cogs in that team.. this is a make or break it year.. to me that makes sense to unload the gun so to speak.

Even if the rest of the league will have to support their asses in the supplemental revenue bucket again.

Sidney Rice will be back soon, won't he? Rice, Harvin, Berrian, Shianco... not exactly a gaping hole. I almost wonder if Favre was quietly contemplating calling it quits, and this is the Vikings' desperate response.

There's a gaping hole where you said Berrian. I think he'll be the odd guy out when Rice is healthy and back if this deal goes through.

I still don't believe it, though. It would be surreal, though and hearing about Moss, Favre and AP on the same team? Damn. Almost gave me a woody.

I hate the Vikings more than most people will admit, I don't deny that.

Favre is a great leader.
Peterson has some very good moves and is difficult to drop. True, he fumbles and typically his fumbling occurs in the latter half of the season. He's still dangerous.
Rice torched us even before Brett came aboard the Love Boat.
Harvin when not headaching is dangerous as many can imagine.

Moss added to this lineup gives NEW life to Brett, make NO mistake about it. Keep in mind, Brett was furious the Packers didn't land Moss, regardless of the reasoning. This would renew that excitement of these two pals playing together. Moss has also said he had unfinished business in Minnesota too.

This is both good and bad for the Packers. It's extremely bad for this year because we do not have the secondary to handle that arsenal nor the pass rush to nullify it.

It's terrible for the '10 Packers for reasons mentioned above.
It's good for the '11 (an next year or so) Packers because it'll be less draft picks the Vikings have to rebuild their team.

I've been reading the articles and maybe I'm over reacting with these thoughts ... but I do not want to see Moss as a Viking regardless of Brett doubting himself or not because Moss would REMOVE that doubt in an instant.

Edit, Bus is the agent for Brett and Randy. I don't question for a second that the comments from Randy Moss (shortly after Rice went hobbling btw) has made about his contract and future were not for the purpose of being traded or released ... to unite with Brett. Far fetched, yes, but I know a man who most surely once retired so he could come back on another team.

Kind of mixed feelings for me. I've wanted the best WR in the NFL with Favre back in '07. It didn't happen. Not blaming anyone. Just saying it didn't happen.

Now my favorite player is on the Vikings and he may get his wish and I'm happy for Favre. I'm just thinking now that we're going to have to face that twice, perhaps 3 times this year.

We're going to have to generate pressure. I don't trust our DBs to cover Moss, Rice (who will be back in week 8 or so), Harvin, and Camarillo. Harvin instantly bumps up to good with Moss there as he's a good #2 WR. Camarillo's a good slot WR. It's just he's forced into doing something he isn't.

So if anything, we're going to need CM3, Raji, Jenkins, and perhaps Zombo to bump up their games when we play the Vikings. We'll have to play the Vikings like the '07 Giants beat the Patriots - not let Brady (Favre) get balls off.
