Open up completely, like that TD pass to Fin.
I want to go out like my Grandpa did. Peacefully in his sleep.
Not screaming in terror like his passengers.

Frustration, yes. Hostility, no.

I didn't mind them trying to run the ball more in this game, but it did seem that there wasn't much of an attempt to establish a short passing game. I think a lot of the problem was that the defense was so soft, so the offense kept getting cold. And they created a lot of their own problems by failing to convert some short third downs.

Yes, they should run the old '07 game plan. Use quick, short passes to compensate for the lack of a running game. Why have they not tried to do something like this?

Total speculation here but maybe Favre was responsible for a lot of that? We know how often he likes to change the call, maybe he was checking out of a lot of runs. Rodgers seemed to do the opposite today, I saw him change the call to a run numerous times. Didn't seem to work too often..

Actually, they changed their offense last season and became a short quick passing team. That quick pass setsup everything in this offense. In fact, they used it well against Chicago last week. I agree that they once again have gotten away from it or at least against the Lions. Perhaps they felt they could attack the Lions' secondary better down the field. We'll see if this becomes a trend.

They had quite a few throws where the WRs caught the ball in stride and did something with it. Donald Driver was specifically quite good at that on the short slant. Aaron Rodgers actually dinked and donked his way down the field all night long. You don't do that without having the short passing game rolling, which it was.

That was not a down the field passing game plan that the Packers had against Chicago. They utilized their slants, comebacks and check downs very well that night. The yardage total reflects this, as did the product on the screen. Rodgers completed 34 passes. You don't do that by accident.

When they did go down the field for a touchdown, it was actually called back thanks to Tauscher's hold. The one exception all night was Finley had success on the skinny post across the middle, but he was really the only one that did some things down the field. And that's because LBs can't run with him.

I think Rodgers is voicing frustration conveyed to him by his WR's who understand Brandon Jackson isn't Ryan Grant and can't hold his jock.

Our running game misses Ryan Grant.

I wouldn't mind seeing more shotgun screen plays or even some draws (on plays not 3rd and long!).

No, truthfully I wasn't watching it very closely at all. I was too busy trash talking my cousin. (Bears fan living in Cal) Of course EVERY time I do that, the Packers end up giving the Bears the game. So, no I wasn't paying attention. I just remember the Bears tackling the receivers immediately most plays.

I seriously doubt you actually agreed with even one of my comments. As for the meeting, just give a time and place.

I am quite literally astounded you admit to making unsubstantiated claims. Fully expected you to continue to hold the position that Green Bay didn't employ short passes against Chicago. This is an important step in your therapy: you have to actually watch the games closely in order to accurately critique the performances.

Oh, and about the public slapping. I'd prefer to be the only party involved in violence. You seem eager to be slapped, which is most excellent. I, however, have little desire to be slapped -- so please, be respectful.

Well, that sort of looks cool, Kevin, but I'm not sure what it means. Are we looking down a really empty hall, down into a pit, or just going nowhere?

on the thread at hand. I have in the past criticized the team's lack of commitment to the running game. Mainly because I'm an old fart who thinks you need to be able to dominate in the running game at key points in the game.

Most specifically, at the end, when the other team needs to get the ball. Like, ahem, the last 6 minutes of this game.

If the team could bottle what they did with 6+ left in the Lion game, the running game would be just fine.

I don't know if Kuhn can be the main guy or not, but I'd like to see him get a shot in the next game to see if he could. Run him behind Sitton and Hall/Johnson.
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
