Anyone hear anything about Morgan Burnett's injury?

Burnett was questionable to return, but Barnett returned a few minutes after leaving and was involved in two tackles in his first series back.

And while he was making tackles FOX reported his return was questionable

Damn fine reporting

McCarthy said it was a knee sprain.

Bedard says no word on whether he'd be out the entire season as a result; do knee sprains have the ability to potentially knock players out for the entire season? :-?

I never really thought of them that way. Usually (if I'm not mistaken) you're out from 4-6 weeks. I could very well be wrong, but that's what I thought.

I'll be nice to get Atari Bigby back...

Truth be told, this may be a blessing in disguise.

Perhaps we can get Nick dropping into coverage more, and have Martin become the Safety that plays in the box. Nick is miles better than Burnett at this point in his career.

Considering Bigby was the starting SS past few years and has been solid, if unspectacular, I see no reason they would not want him back.

Despite dissenting opinion, Bigby is not only a solid player but each week I start to believe more and more that he complements Collins really well in that he can step up / play the run if required, leaving Collins as the safety in pass coverage in situations such as single high safety play calls.

Plenty of knee sprains have ended seasons. Of course, they turn out not to be merely sprains but torn ligaments or tendons. "Sprained knee" tends to be the initial diagnosis before a thorough examination has been done. If I remember correctly, the initial word on Kampman was that it was a knee sprain.

As someone that's struggled with the afteraffects of a knee sprain for 2 years, yes. Any amount of walking was pretty close to impossible (hobbling worked later on) for a week or so, within a month I could go on longer walks again but reinjured it 3-4 times before I'm finally to the strength level to where I can run again without it getting extremely sore and/or reinjured.

What also sucks is that it messed up my other knee and hip too, since I was favoring my other leg so heavily for so long. Sure, if I were in the shape Burnett was in and had professional trainers and medical staff helping me, it wouldn't have been nearly this bad. But the potential for it to be year-ending is there (but slight), and even if it isn't, there's a bigger chance of re-injury.

Morgan wasn't found in the locker room, but one player said he was walking fine with no crutches or limp and another player said Morgan looked very unhappy.
