How is it so high this year? Is it just how the deals line up this year? A couple years ago they were 28th in the league. Regardless I'm glad Ted Thompson is starting to loosen his death grip on the Packers change purse.

Front loading contracts in an uncapped year. Collins' and Pickett's cap hits are are pretty big this year, if I recall correctly. Chillar's might be, as well. I asume that the same goes for the restructured contracts of some of our guys.
I don't know if Jenkins will be resigned. The point he makes himself is a very valid one. A lot of young guys are coming in. Next to that, we can get Jolly back a bit cheaper next year after getting suspended this year.
Not that Jolly's anywhere close to Jenkins, but still.
I'd call him the 2nd best player on our defense right now and I'd like to keep him, but a talented player like that, who has a couple of years left and can play anything from 3-4 DE, to 4-3 DE and 4-3 UT isn't going to come cheap.
At some point, we'll have to let some guys go. Make some hard choices. I'm a little iffy on letting Cullen go, since you see what it did to that Patriots line when they traded away Seymour, but I could definitely see it happen.
