So, as you know, I live in Colorado now. There is one other Packers fan that I work with, that I'm aware of. I'm sure there's more.

Last week, we played the Eagles. The Eagles are the favorite of a guy who is on the same .NET team as me, and sits across from me. He didn't want to talk about the game too much. I tried telling him he can feel good about Vick, but he wasn't buying it, lol.

This week, we play the Bills. The Bills are the favorite of another co-worker, who's from Buffalo and is our graphics designer. I asked him what he thought about the upcoming game and he basically said, "think you'll score 40 or 50 on us? What's the spread, 32?" He didn't want to talk about it much either.

I told him we looked shaky last week and a win isn't a guarantee. He scoffed at that said 'we had under 80 yards of total offense in three quarters, you're going to pound us, we dont want to go into Lambeau'.

I don't think being a Packers fan I'm making too many friends, lol. At least I'm not rubbing it in or anything. I'm trying to be as objective as I can, and still no one wants to talk football, except one guy who's a Cowboys fan.

Edit, I told the Bills fan that Grant was out, he didn't seem to cheer up and said two of their starting LB's are out and they have someone they just picked up a week ago starting at LB.

I work from home now, but when i used to work onsite I Sat next to a Vikings can, and across from a bears fan. Living in Iowa means a lot of that, sort of an even split between packers/vikings/bears fans.

Both of them were pretty cool about it, aside from the Vikings fans wearing in the horns after a win over the Packers/Bears, and generally always willing to have a conversation about it. The vikings fan used to talk about how he wanted to put a hit out on Brett Favre, and how he ruined so many Christmas's for him. I think he owns a Favre jersey now, the prideless bastard.

It seems that we as Packers fans are universally hated. At least locally, since I am from North Dakota. I can't walk from one class to another with a Packers shirt on without getting crap from somebody. And now that we have high expectations again, the hating has picked up. I think that being humble is not always the right way to go. It's like if you're lifting weights. You bench 145, then the guy benching 315 comes over and says "Nice work, dude!" (pardon the meathead-ism). Do you want to hear that from him? No. If anything, it is just pity.
This puts us in a predicament. We, as Packers fans, want to talk about our team more than ever this year, but it is paradoxical because we are not allowed to talk about it, as other people are annoyed with it. It isn't awesome for us, but that's the way it is. If we talk about the Packers, or even other teams (that aren't as talented or have as high of expectations), people are going to say "You're a Packers fan, shut up." Such is the price of greatness!

Just so you know exactly where my 'LOL' was pointing at!!

I see so much of that crap. Three years ago, they ALL hated him. Don't tell me otherwise, I don't want to hear it. And now, my roommate calls his the Minnesota Miracle Man. I am Jack's violently acidic esophagus.

Yeah, but that guy with the oversized pecs and the shoulders rounded forward because he's worked his anterior delts at the expense of his posterior shoulder girdle probably can't squat as much as I can and probably has pencil legs. So I'd just laugh at him and tell him to fuck off, since I know the girls are snickering at him behind his back.

Strong powerful legs and massive traps trump gorilla chest and biceps any day. Ask any woman and she'll tell you the same.

I maxed at 140 in my early years in High School as a low 100's wrestler and guys who could do two and three time that told me I did good. It encouraged me. Even the poop line of "if you can bench more than your weight, thats a good thing!" got me pumped to continue working hard.

I was just a scrawny kid who was fast, muscle was never my thing, but I had a really strong throwing arm. So, when I heard those compliments, even if it was overly common, it made me want to try harder to "earn" those minor accolades.

I do feel I understand your point. It's hard to talk about your team without coming off arrogant if they're doing well to a fan of a team that sucks. Like when I was telling Bills fan about Rodgers throwing some really stupid passes, he was like 'dude, ill take Rodgers on a bad day over any one of the QB's we have'. Which proves how SPOILED I have been throughout my tenure of being a Packers fan. From Majkowski to Favre to Rodgers, I've seen solid to great QB play.

Yes, Kevin, I've never actually seen a situation in a gym like the one peteralan described. In my experience, when people give accolades in the gym, they're sincere about it, no matter how scrawny the guy might be. I was just referring to how I'd react if someone were truly expressing pity instead of congratulations.

lol that reminds me of a pathetic stat of mine in Little League. I was very good at getting on base. I was walked a lot (being short gives you a small strike zone) and beaned three times a year, but I never once hit the ball into the grass without it hopping and batted an average of nearly .400. lol

I had ONE home run, JUST ONE! And it was in park homer where I stole 2nd, 3rd and home on poor throws.

The only time I hit the ball in the grass was in batting practice and coach told me never to do that, to hit grounders and get on base to use my speed because I had no power. I was like, thanks coach, ass! He was right, I had no power, lol. I'll have to find my baseball card and scan it sometime.

When I played baseball in high school, my on-base percentage was almost .900 one year, because I was beaned so many times. I had lace-shaped bruises on my left forearm for months. Don't get me wrong, I was also a good hitter -- I hit clean-up and lead-off with a batting average of around .400 -- but getting hit so often drastically inflated my OBP. I was also pretty good at drawing walks.

I wans't good enough to play in college, though, because I was afraid of the ball. That meant I wasn't a great fielder. Right now I'm working on inuring my boys to being hit by the ball, so they don't fall prey to that trap. Fear of the ball is crippling. It doesn't matter how much talent or skill one may have; if one flinches whenever the ball comes near, one won't make the team.

I would imagine it's probably easiest to walk around as a fan of a really bad team. People generally leave you alone. Lions and Bills fans have the collective sympathy of the sports nation--only the biggest douchebags will try to kick you when you're down.

Of course, I could be wrong. I've never been a Lions or Bills fan so I don't know what it's like firsthand.
