Since he signed elsewhere, off topic comment coming.

Shawn, I think that's easily your best signature ever! I mean that too, it makes me want to fire up Photoshop and make a new one!

I'm pretty sure that Carr, Leonhard, Hester, Burleson, Bess, and Cotchery were all starters also.

Slocum...that is another story.

"digsthepack" wrote:

No, it's the same story. I'm convinced we could have the best returners in the league and it won't matter cuz of Slocum.

I REALLY like Mike McCarthy, but his allegiance to Slocum leaves me scratching my head.

Allegiance? Isn't this Slocum's 2nd year? Is that really allegiance? Don't get me wrong, I want the guy gone too but I don't think he's here due to allegiance. I think he's here to get a fair\last chance. I hope the shithead gets it done, but...yeah.

The returners last year would look a lot better if we didn't have so many penalties taking away returns. I think we even had a TD or 2 called back. They actually would have looked pretty good.

Since they are spending extra time working on cutting down penalties and making blocks for the returner, it may be the fix we actually need, if not what every body is looking for.

Mike Holmgren used lots of starters on ST in '96. Didn't seem to be a problem for them. Specially when they got Desmond a return for a TD. Doesn't happen without great blocking.

Really the dynamic returners are starters.. I grabbed 2009 stats.. anyone with more than 10 returns.. and colored the starters I could think of off the top of my head.. I may have missed one or so.. but the majority are non starters that have a returner primary role.. which is pretty standard.

I couldn't decide on Cribbs.. starter or no.. lol. But illustration is clear.. starters don't return punts on a normal basis.

I'd vote no. And I'd have voted no on Sproles as a starter. He's been a career backup to Ladainian Tomlinson and now to Ryan Mathews. It's like calling Brandon Jackson a starter.

Maybe 10 percent of a quality punt return is (i) catching the ball and securing it, (ii) the first two steps.

The rest is blocking.

Most of the explanation for the Packers' mediocre return team is performance of the other 10 guys.

Or, I suppose, if you are a member of the Jarrett Bush Fan Club (see McCarthy, Mike), other 9 guys.

Since this thread started or last post, however you wish to see it.
Clifton Smith was cut from Dolphins.
Clifton Smith signed with the Browns.

Edit, he was waived 9/21/2010 (or around that date)

Dolphins waived RB/KR Clifton Smith.
The coaching staff apparently decided they couldn't afford to carry a return specialist when he's averaging just 4.5 yards per punt return and 17.3 yards per kickoff return. Davone Bess will likely take over on punts with Patrick Cobbs and Nolan Carroll on kickoffs

I care less about who would replace him, but color still not happy we are gambling with Tramon returning punts.. is importance to this team has only elevated with his play this season.

Zero2Cool (7h) : Dolphins get (back) Minkah Fitzpatrick in trade
Zero2Cool (7h) : Steelers land Jalen Ramsey via Trade
dfosterf (26-Jun) : I think it would be great to have someone like Tom Grossi or Andy Herman on the Board of Directors so he/they could inform us
dfosterf (26-Jun) : Fair enough, WPR. Thing is, I have been a long time advocate to at least have some inkling of the dynamics within the board.
wpr (26-Jun) : 1st world owners/stockholders problems dfosterf.
Martha Careful (25-Jun) : I would have otherwise admirably served
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Also, no more provision for a write-in candidate, so Martha is off the table at least for this year
dfosterf (25-Jun) : You do have to interpret the boring fine print, but all stockholders all see he is on the ballot
dfosterf (25-Jun) : It also says he is subject to another ballot in 2028. I recall nothing of this nature with Murphy
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Ed Policy is on my ballot subject to me penciling him in as a no.
dfosterf (25-Jun) : I thought it used to be we voted for the whatever they called the 45, and then they voted for the seven, and then they voted for Mark Murphy
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Because I was too lazy to change my address, I haven't voted fot years until this year
dfosterf (25-Jun) : of the folks that run this team. I do not recall Mark Murphy being subject to our vote.
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Ed Policy yay or nay is on the pre-approved ballot that we always approve because we are uninformed and lazy, along with all the rest
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Weird question. Very esoteric. For stockholders. Also lengthy. Sorry. Offseason.
Zero2Cool (25-Jun) : Maybe wicked wind chill made it worse?
Mucky Tundra (25-Jun) : And then he signs with Cleveland in the offseason
Mucky Tundra (25-Jun) : @SharpFootball WR Diontae Johnson just admitted he refused to enter a game in 41° weather last year in Baltimore because he felt “ice cold”

dfosterf (18-Jun) : Beats the hell out of a Vikings signing
Zero2Cool (18-Jun) : Baltimore Ravens now have signed former Packers CB Jaire Alexander.
dfosterf (14-Jun) : TWO magnificent strikes for touchdowns. Lose the pennstate semigeezer non nfl backup

dfosterf (11-Jun) : There will be a mini camp practice Thursday.
Zero2Cool (11-Jun) : He's been sporting a ring for a while now. It's probably Madonna.
Martha Careful (10-Jun) : We only do the tea before whoopee, it relaxes me.
wpr (10-Jun) : That's awesome Martha.
Mucky Tundra (10-Jun) : How's the ayahuasca tea he makes, Martha?
Martha Careful (10-Jun) : Turns out he like older women
Martha Careful (10-Jun) : I wasn't supposed to say anything, but yes the word is out and we are happy 😂😂😂
Mucky Tundra (10-Jun) : I might be late on this but Aaron Rodgers is now married
Mucky Tundra (10-Jun) : Well he can always ask his brother for pointers
Zero2Cool (10-Jun) : Bo Melton taking some reps at CB as well as WR
Zero2Cool (10-Jun) : key transactions coming today at 3pm that will consume more cap in 2025
