Down the field = 15-20-plus yards through the air. I think there are a ton of examples of that the first half of the season when the team came out in the first half.
McCarthy is a great offensive mind, but that doesn't mean he didn't make mistakes. He misjudged his team IMO, but the best quality of a coach is to accept responsibility and fix it. He did that with his play calling. If anything, I feel better about McCarthy as a coach now than I did because he showed the willingness to change.
