Well twelve pages and [strike]God[/strike] Kevin knows how many merged threads later I thought I would throw in my two cents. This is going to be a long post so I hope someone reads it all, and if nothing else reads the end where I actually try and add something that hasn't been touched on.

First, I am laughing at the Vikings for their perceived desperation at bringing back Favre. Why? Well, I am a Packer fan and hell any chance I get to view the Vikings' actions into something laughable (whether it is or isn't) I'll take.

I don't blame them for passing on McNabb. I would have held out for Favre too. There is no excuse though for passing on young promising talent at the quarterback position unless they felt it would hurt Favre's feelings/ego OR didn't like the quarterback pool available in the draft. As a Packer fan I'm going to go with the former for no logical reason other than it fits well with my desire to laugh at the Vikings.

But aside from the Vikings and their (lack) of dignity in this whole matter, Favre could also be perceived as lacking dignity in the whole matter. I can honestly say it's not such a far stretch to imagine him playing the Vikings like puppets. "Dance for me my pretty," until he's satisfied with all the hoops the Vikings have jumped through and he's had his fun and will come back (conveniently well into spring training and the preseason).

On the other hand, maybe last year's loss is eating at him and talking to some of his team mates has made him really feel he owes it to them and wants to bring them to that next level of success. Again, as a Packer fan I am going with the former for no other logical reason other than I want to laugh at the Vikings.

I don't know how these scenarios have actually panned out but I do know I have enjoyed the 12 pages debating them.

Yet, do you know who I think has really come out well in this thread? In spite of being a Packer fan I am going with Formo, ignoring my desire to laugh at the Vikings. You come across a lot like my room mate for this coming year who unfortunately is also a Viking fan but shares many of the same views. For all our talk about how this impacts the Queens locker room and fan base, us Packer fans still get really heated and passionate about our Favre discussions and you can't help but laugh at the irony of it all. That said, Jared Allen is a twat-waffle and I will hold everything he says against him because I hate him beyond the bounds of any reason or logic (even if I would say the same thing about putting a helmet into an opposing player's back... it's what NFL legends like Chuck Bednarik would say, or do in his case).

Aside from commenting on some of the ideas already brought up about Favre I just wanted to pose this thought. Favre is one of the most emotional players we have seen, and probably will see in our life time. He can play so dominantly (or dom if you guys prefer your sexual references) when he is on these emotional highs. Look no further than his game against Oakland after his father died. I think playing Green Bay for the first time, and returning to Lambeau for the first time inspired the same sort of emotional highs and produced some of his very best. I think he could stay play very well against us this year. But, ignoring the whole "Saints created a blueprint" bullcrap, I don't think he'll have that same emotional charge against us, and for that reason might not be nearly as effective.

mi_keys, I read it all. You owe me two minutes of my life that I want back!

Kidding ... good read. I think we're passionate about Favre because its hard to remember a time without him for a good portion of us and we all have a memory with Favre in it, especially if you're a Packers fan.

Formo would screw his sister if it helped the Vikings so bleh on him. You know what I'm talking bout!!
