Anyone else find this really funny? How lame is that the Vikings organization has to get on their knees for a Packer legend. Make fun of Favre's drama-queen-ness all you want or whatever but I think this is funnier on the Vikings end. Pathetic. But I guess if you have T-Jack, you gotta do what you gotta do, lol.

Unfortunately, I have no source to link, but it's been said that Brett was "offended" by the Vikings offer of more money, implying that's why he'd come back. Apparently Brett just wanted to retire and walk (limp) away.

I don't know how true that is, but after hearing that and watching the video of Ed Werder (sp) talking to him while he's in his truck ... kind of made sense to me.

I don't think Brett wants to come back an risk going 2 - 2 against the Packers or getting hurt worse than he did against the Saints. There's also a few dubious records he's within reach of that I don't feel he wants any part of. I also think going out with the statistical season he had gives him solace that he went out on 'top' too.

I'm confident he'll be back, but I can see why he would call it quits too.

I think people over hype how much Favre cares about those infamous records. If someone said to a high school QB or even a college QB or heck 95% of NFL QBs that you could be the all-time leader in consecutive starts, wins, TDs, yards, etc. but you also had ot be the all-time leader in INTs, you'd take it. I don't think he gives a rat's bum about dubious records just like I really don't think he cares that much about what people think about his "legacy" and his yearly retirement saga. If he gave a crap about waht people said, he would stop the retirement saga.

Who said they begged? How do we know what they were doing down there? Maybe they strong armed him into making up his mind.. Or maybe they just explained where the team is at, and wanted to know if Favre was in or not.

What's more pathetic is the assumptions that are flying. 😃

Great (if true, who knows with Favre reporting), its good for the division, its good for the conference, its good for the NFL. Makes football more entertaining, no one can deny that. The NFL is better with Favre in it.

So now some people can move from bitching and complaining about Favre's off field stuff to bithcing and complaining about his on-field stuff. That at least is more entertaining and measurable.

You really think BF would react positively to being "strong armed" into coming back to the NFL. Vikings are lame, come on, it must kill you on some level that your organization is so obsessed with a Packer legend. And not even a Packer legend in their prime but someone thats 41 years old almost and a grandfather.

Pathetic. And weak.

Remind me how it feels to be beaten by a 40 year old Packer legend again.. No worries, those feelings will be apparently back this season too.

Well not beg but when your coach comes out and won't even commit to a deadline (leaving the possibility of coming back during the regular season), when Jared Allen dances around the issue of Favre returning late in the preseason as not to upset Lord Favre, when three guys fly to MISSISSIPPI, etc. - Thats lame.

But yes you are right, I am a Favre supporter and that hurt a lot to watch the Packers get beat twice, especially the second one at home. Its a shame but now we have a chance to get those two games back, so its all good.

But at the end of the day, the Vikings organization is still bowing down to a 41 year old Packer.

In all honesty, I'm with Dakota. He was seemingly unbeatable last season. Then the saints figured out a way to beat him, and they practically beat him to death. What DC in his right mind wouldn't take a cue from the NFC championship game?

"bozz_2006" wrote:

It's the same strategy that was first deployed against him in 1993. There was nothing new at all about what the Saints tried to do. They just executed well, got in some ferocious hits, and avoided penalties on some questionable hits. If teams think they are just going to beat him into submission every week then he's licking his chops right now.

Naw. They are giving leway to a 41 year old QB legend in the making, who happens to be a VIKING. Last I checked the name on the front of his jersey says he's a Viking. 🙂

Zero2Cool (10h) : sounds like Packers don't get good compensation, Jaire staying
dfosterf (14h) : Nobody coming up with a keep, but at x amount
dfosterf (14h) : Trade, cut or keep
dfosterf (15h) : that from Jaire
dfosterf (15h) : My guess is the Packers floated the concept of a reworked contract via his agent and agent got a f'
Zero2Cool (15h) : Yes, and that is why I think Rob worded it how he did. Rather than say "agent"
dfosterf (15h) : Same laws apply. Agent must present such an offer to Jaire. Cannot accept or reject without presenting it
Zero2Cool (15h) : I'm thinking that is why Rob worded it how he did.
dfosterf (15h) : The Packers can certainly still make the offer to the agent
dfosterf (15h) : Laws of agency and definition of fiduciary responsibility
dfosterf (15h) : Jaire is open to a reduced contract without Jaire's permission
dfosterf (15h) : The agent would arguably violate the law if he were to tell the Packers
Zero2Cool (16h) : That someone ... likely the agent.
Zero2Cool (16h) : So, Jaire has not been offered nor rejected a pay reduction, but someone says he'd decline.
Zero2Cool (16h) : Demovksy says t was direct communication with someone familiar with Jaire’s line of thinking at that moment.
Zero2Cool (16h) : Demovsky just replied to me a bit ago. Jaire hasn't said it.
dfosterf (18h) : Of course, that depends on the definition of "we"
dfosterf (18h) : We have been told that they haven't because he wouldn't accept it. I submit we don't know that
dfosterf (18h) : What is the downside in making a calculated reduced offer to Jaire?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers are receiving interest in Jaire Alexander but a trade is not imminent
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Jalen Ramsey wants to be traded. He's never happy is he?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : two 1sts in 2022 and two 2nd's in 2023 and 2024
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers had fortunate last three drafts.
dfosterf (15-Apr) : I may have to move
dfosterf (15-Apr) : My wife just told the ancient Japanese sushi dude not enough rice under his fish
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I think a dozen is what I need
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Go fund me for this purpose just might work. A dozen nurses show up at 1265 to provide mental health assistance.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Maybe send a crew of Angels to the Packers draft room on draft day.
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I am the Angel that gets visited.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Visiting Angels has a pretty good reputation
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : what
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : WINNING IT, not someone else losing it. The best victory though was re-uniting with his wife
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : The manner in which he won it was just amazing and wonderful. First blowing the lead then getting back, then blowing it. But ultimately
Zero2Cool (12-Apr) : I'm guessing since the thumb was broken, he wasn't feeling it.
dfosterf (10-Apr) : Looking for guidance. Not feeling the thumb.
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : If they knew about it or not
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : I don't recall that he did which is why I asked.
Zero2Cool (10-Apr) : Guessing they probably knew. Did he have cast or something on?
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : Did they know that at the time or was that something the realized afterwards?
Zero2Cool (9-Apr) : Van Ness played most of season with broken thumb
wpr (9-Apr) : yay
Zero2Cool (9-Apr) : Mark Murphy says Steelers likely to protect Packers game. Meaning, no Ireland
Zero2Cool (8-Apr) : Struggling to figure out what text editor options are needed and which are 'nice to have'
Mucky Tundra (8-Apr) : *CHOMP CHOMP CHOMP*
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : WR who said he'd break Xavier Worthy 40 time...and ran slower than you
Mucky Tundra (2-Apr) : Who?
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : Texas’ WR Isaiah Bond is scheduled to visit the Bills, Browns, Chiefs, Falcons, Packers and Titans starting next week.
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : Spotting ball isn't changing, only measuring distance is, Which wasn't the issue.
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : The spotting of the ball IS the issue. Not the chain gang.
