not that practicing tackling is a waste of time, but it seems the tackler is jumping before the tackle, which in game could result in many misses, and their going so slow( i know to avoid injury)

Pretty basic drill. Wrap up, head down and on the proper side, and drive. This isn't anything new pertaining to football.

We did that drill in high school and college.

Their heads were not down.
They were "tackling" high.
Normally you hit the thigh and wrap up the knees with your arms.

Basic tackleing. Glad to see them working on the basics. Just like we were taught in High school. Keep your head between the runner and where he is going, hit him in the center of his mass, wrap up and drive through. One of my pet peeves is tacklers dropping their heads, tucking the arm under and throwing a shoulder at a guy and trying to knock down the runner.

Ya think. It's the first day of practice. I hardly doubt anything is going to be real violent. I would assume they want to reteach fundamentals because if I recall, Green Bay has a tendency to hit high or big rather than wrapping up and driving.
