God's chosen people? Can someone please explain to me how this is any different from saying "we're the Master Race."

Well. I'm asuming Cheesey would actually say, "We are the Master Race" if that's what he meant to say. I know I'm putting myself out there on a line by saying that.. but I'm pretty sure if that's what he meant to say, he would have worded it that way.

According to what some scripture says, Israel is God's chosen. I'm guessin' that's what Cheesey means.

Yup Formo.
That's what i meant. The Bible calls the Jews that.
Of course anyone that doesn't believe in the Bible will think i'm nuts.
Even many that DO believe it think i'm nuts. LOL!
I don't think any "race" is a "master" race. We all were created in God's image. It's the Bible that singles out Israel.
By the way......I'n not Jewish. (I am blonde haired and blue eyed.......so i guess i'd be a member of "the master race" in the eyes of some! LOLOL!!!)

Then explain the reason God lead them to the wilderness for 40 years according to the verse?

While in Egypt, the Israelites had intermarried with other peoples and adapted their religion or adopted new beliefs based on the society they lived in or the tribes they married into. By the time Moses and Aaron came along to lead them out of Egypt, very little of their previous belief system remained and there was little consistency in what did remain.

One of the purposes of the wilderness experience of the Israelites was their re-education in the ways of God. They needed the time to learn again about God and His expectations of them. Separated and cut off from the rest of the world, the Israelites classroom was the desert. Here they had to learn again to communicate with God, rely on God, follow God and accept provision from God. Their survival depended on the rebuilding of their faith. The wilderness was their opportunity to restore their relationship and intimacy with God.

Hence why I learned the dictation as "People of God" and have never heard it referred to them as "God's People". "God's people" makes it sound like they are holier than another..

They were people that had lost touch with God.. so they can hardly be "God's people".

And this is one of thousands of examples in the bible where I have little faith in the translations of man.. they are skewed towards the interpreter.
