He once had two false starts on special teams in ONE game. How is that even possible?

Mind me asking what game that was?

It may have been an error by the ref (as in he misstated the penalty), or even called a 'False Start' in jest similar to Houchli's "False start, the entire offensive line" in one of our games last year.

Bengals game last year.

Both in 2nd qtr.

4-2-GB 18 (11:54) (Punt formation) PENALTY on GB-24-J.Bush, False Start, 5 yards, enforced at GB 18 - No Play.

4-20-GB 20 (8:42) (Punt formation) PENALTY on GB-24-J.Bush, False Start, 5 yards, enforced at GB 20 - No Play.

Evidence of Bush being a good special teamer can be found right at that link you provided. Take a look at the highlight of the punt return right after Bush's first false start. Big return for the Bengals, but Bush is the first one on the screen by the punt returner, and he's being double teamed like usual.

That highlight is evidence that Jarrett Bush can run fast, nothing more.

It's also evidence that the Bengals saw him as enough of a threat to double team him.

Don't all gunners get double-teamed? Whenever they show them on the replays, they are getting mugged by two blockers.

Sometimes I think that Bush is still riding his reputation based on those two huge special teams plays in the season opener against the Eagles in 2007. I don't notice him making a lot of good plays. The coaches always say good things about his special teams play, though.

I don't want to rip the guy, because I think he tries hard, but I'd feel better if he got beaten out by someone else.

He has had double digit special teams tackles every year since he entered the league- four straight years. That's not too easy to do. He hasn't had anything too amazing on STs lately, but he did get a pretty nice INT just a couple games ago-

Jarret Bush is like a convenience store pocket knife. He can do a lot of things on paper, but doesn't do any particular one thing very well.
