Well I have established even more respect for Sitton past his play on the field.. standing on record telling his opinion of the events. While not condoning Underwood.. not throwing him under the bus off the record.

Maybe a reporter trumped up the "Brandon has been nothing but trouble" statement.

Sitton: Accusations against Underwood are "bogus"

By Greg A. Bedard of the Journal Sentinel

June 8, 2010 |(7) Comments

Green Bay - In an interview with his hometown newspaper, Packers guard Josh Sitton said the sexual assault allegations against teammate Brandon Underwood are frivolous, although Sitton admitted something "stupid" happened early Saturday morning in Lake Delton.

"I know Underwood is innocent when it comes to any legal issues," Sitton told the Pensacola News Journal. "That's my personal opinion about that. Legally, my opinion is that he didn't do anything wrong or whatever. The allegations are very bogus."

Sitton, who played at Pensacola Catholic High School, was among seven Packers players questioned by Lake Delton Police early Saturday morning in connection with with sexual assault allegations by two women and quickly cleared.

His comments are the first from a member of the Packers organization to publicly identify Underwood the player yet to be cleared of any wrongdoing.

"It's been a little stressful because you know your name is involved with something," Sitton said. "But it's over now, it's been set straight on who's been cleared. But it still (is disappointing) because it leaves a cloud over your name even though you weren't involved with anything.

"It's crazy because I wouldn't change one thing I did that night," Sitton said. "Really, every little thing is watched and can get out. You've got to watch every step. I couldn't have done one thing different. I was put in a room and (in another room) something stupid happened."

"The oranges are dry; the apples are mealy; and the papayas... I don't know what's going on with the papayas!"

The Brandon has been nothing but trouble comment holds no water with me as it was another unnamed source. His position coach mentioned some troubles with his maturity, but I didn't get any indication at the time it was nothing out of the ordinary for a young 20's male.

Here's another article on the same comments.

Josh Sitton calls allegations against Brandon Underwood "bogus"
Posted by Mike Florio on June 7, 2010 11:41 PM ET
With all signs pointing to authorities in Lake Delton, Wisconsin not charging Packers cornerback Brandon Underwood with the sexual assault of two women, Underwood is starting to get some support from his teammates.

"I know Underwood is innocent when it comes to any legal issues," guard Josh Sitton said, according to the Green Bay Press-Gazette. "That's my personal opinion about that. Legally, my opinion is that he didn't do anything wrong or whatever. The allegations are very bogus."

Sitton isn't happy about the situation, and it's not clear whether he directs any of his frustration at Underwood.

"Just to have my name tainted is disappointing," Sitton said. "I'm the most disappointed that our names even got out [in public] because there are no allegations against us. . . .

"It's crazy because I wouldn't change one thing I did that night. Really, every little thing is watched and can get out. You've got to watch every step. I couldn't have done one thing different. I was put in a room and [in another room] something stupid happened."

Sitton had more.

"I'm a man of high character and high values and I don't stand for any [expletive] like that."

Frankly, I want that quote on my tombstone.

So it's much ado about nothing after all, huh?

I read an article in yahoo sports that the accusers kept changing their story. Starting to think these were girls blinded by dollar signs and not victims.

This article said that not only were they changing their stories, but now the police aren't even recommending pressing charges as they have a weak case:
http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=ap-packers-assaultallegations

So I'm reading the yahoo blog after the article and the best comment of all comes from a woman:

Yall know what.....why is everyone guilty until proven innocent with you people....its clear to me that these females came up with a plan to scam money from these men but in their stupidity didn't get their stories together. If sex took place I can almost bet it was consensual by all parties involved. These type of women do this type of thing all the time...groupies and old ass groupies at that...so classless, these men really have to be carefull who they allow into their world....smh

I'm starting to think that all that happened was Underwood was getting some and the other players knew he was married. That causes problems. Have you ever been around one of your friends when they're cheating on someone? Not where you want to be lol.

Sitton touches on an interesting point that I consider an indictment of our gossip-driven culture: Oftentimes it's better to be convicted of an offense than to be exonerated, because if you're found guilty, at last you can do your time and pay your debt to society; whereas if you're acquitted, a black cloud hangs over your head the rest of your life as people mutter you must have gotten off because you had a good lawyer.

As I've said before, I hope I'm never in that position. There aren't many people who'd give me a chance to defend myself before jumping in line to condemn me.

Yeah from what I understand via Rotoworld, he picked up two prostitutes from a bar named chubby's and while being "kept busy" by one, the other attempted to rob him. Then they threw the girls out and thats when the bogus rape story started.

If Sitton knows the allegations to be bogus, does that mean he was in the room as well?

dfosterf (now) : Hopefully the color scheme remains the same
dfosterf (7m) : *Friday*
dfosterf (9m) : 100 million would be 539 million as of Fridsy

dfosterf (25-Jul) : It's my one day deal complaint dept. on shareholder meeting day
dfosterf (25-Jul) : Probably a homer access credential intimidation kinda thing

dfosterf (25-Jul) : Did Savion Williams run into a goalpost or something?
Mucky Tundra (25-Jul) : also, no bueno when a guy starts getting concussions right off the bat in his career
Zero2Cool (25-Jul) : Concussion is worse. Banks probably vet off day via back booboo claim
Mucky Tundra (25-Jul) : @AndyHermanNFL Jordy Nelson out at camp today. No word if he’s in play for one of the two open roster spots ; )
dfosterf (25-Jul) : Is that better or worse than Banks bad back?
