Now that the NFL has awarded a Super Bowl to a cold-weather city without a dome, every other cold-weather city without a dome is going to want one. And that includes Green Bay.

There's already a movement afoot among Packers fans to get a Super Bowl at Lambeau Field, and Packers President and CEO Mark Murphy says he'd like to look into it.

Murphy says hosting a Super Bowl in Green Bay is "very intriguing, but there are a lot of logistical requirements that need to be researched."

For those of us who love NFL history and love outdoor football in the cold, it would be great to see the championship of the NFL determined at Lambeau Field for the first time since the Ice Bowl in 1967.

Realistically, however, there's no chance of it happening. The NFL has already indicated that it's not going to bend the rule requiring cities to have an average February temperature of 50 degrees or play in a dome for cities other than New York. And because of the need for hotel rooms, Green Bay couldn't host all of the Super Bowl week festivities -- the only viable option would be to have all of the Super Bowl events two hours away in Milwaukee.

But even though it's not going to happen, Murphy is right: The idea is very intriguing.

Click the link ... some people have some 'interesting' comments, lol.

"Where the **** is GB an how do I get there!!?"

The hotel accommodation is something I outlined in a different thread.

It would be great, just won't ever happen unless they somehow grow some balls and let men play the game like ... men. If fan's can't handle the cold, tell ya what, I know many who would gladly take that ticket off their hands.

He can think all he wants.. we have a better chance of the Vikings building a stadium in Hudson than the Superbowl coming to GB.

For hotel accommodations, I want them to figure out how to get a whole bunch of 'cruise ships' in the bay. It would be one huge party. I don't know how the hell they would get them there, but damn would that be fun.

That'd be a freaking awesome idea.

Sturgeon Bay would be a great spot for it. It's a great tourist town too. They could bus the fans down to Green Bay for the game.

Wow ... you know what ... they could make this something really freaking awesome. I need to stop thinking about this.

They could get them there with the Coast Guard cutters built in Marinette, they use them all the time for the big ships
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

Yeah this is a pipe dream. They'd have to hold all the events in Milwaukee. Green Bay would need to build more hotels, restaurants, night clubs and so on. While the thought of it is cool, NFL owners laugh at the notion.

Won't EVER happen no matter how much GB residents want it.

The NFL would be scared to death of a game time temp and wind chill of -20 or more. Late start to the game and the temp would keep falling.

No rooms. Nothing to do. No place to go. So many things against GB hosting the game. (Sorry Z.)

If I had tickets, I would sell them.
