The ac adapter for my HP laptop crapped out on me. I noticed that my Dell D610 ac adapter fits my HP. Does that mean it will be compatible? I'm too scared to plug it in. LOL

Depends on the voltage.

Check the adapter itself for the watts and if they match, you'll be okay.

Edit, I think the Dell is probably 19.5 so if you're old one was the same, you should be okay.

90w, 19.5v, 4.6a

HP:
65w, 18.5v, 3.5a

Don't think that will work.

I wouldn't try it. You can find a AC Adapter fairly cheap nowadays. I had to pick one up for my daughter's Dell Latitude 110L for about 24 bucks.

I'm on my 3rd replacement (so 4th total) for a Gateway laptop that's a smidge under 3 years old...
