what do you guys think of possibly trading for patrick surtain?

I'm really not sure why we would. He's already missed to games and didn't start in another one.

Plus I rather develop the young CBs...

As for trades, I would be looking for DL guys that teams would be willing to trade that would help the Packers if there are any out there....

Also if I'm trading with the Chiefs it would be for Tony Gonzalez.

He's 32 but still could be the best TE in the NFL....

He's putting up good numbers with bad QBs...

I've heard he's Packers people off the field as well.

And he's public said he's complete open to a trade...yet he's not trying to force one like a lot of other high profile guys would be trying to do, if they were in his place.

I like how you said injuries are no excuses. This week we have no excuse if we lose to the hawks (which i say we should beat them) They have no WRs they had to bring in people off the street to play. But i thought it was a very good original post thanks
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

With how 'well' Tramon Williams is doing and the presumed soon return of Al Harris, I don't think we'll be making any moves for a CB.

yea true
just read an article about how he's trade bait and he did flourish under bates who runs the same scheme and could see a similar effect as sam madison had in ny

Yeah it is a lot of injuries but I think all teams go through injuries but have good depth to make up for it. I really honestly feel the Favre situation had a bright side for TT, it covered up all the rest of the faults in the team because everyone only focused on the QB position. But at the time, instead of talking about Favre-Rodgers, we should have been talking about the depth at QB and the depth in the secondary (which I thought Harris or Woodson would break down this year), etc. I've always said, its TT's team, its choice if he wants to pick Rodgers over Favre but I don't understand why we never signed a vetern QB to back up Rodgers. I just don't get it.

But regardless of injuries, we lost to the Falcons at home. Even with fielding half our team, we should still beat them at home.

It's not easy rooting for a team that last year was 13-3 and made it to the CG then all of a sudden, they're losing to the Falcons at home.

Every team has injuries, that's true.

But few teams have this extent of injuries and win a majority of their games.

Heck, it only took 1 injury to reduce the patriots to a middle of the pack team.

Which brings up the point that it often depends on where the injuries happen. Most of ours have been at defense and most with our best playmakers. That's going to effect our ability to stop people.

You can say "no excuses" all you want, but in reality, these injuries have changed the landscape of the beginning of the season.

Imagine it's anytime between 1995 and 2004. What if Favre went down. Would you have been surprised if that hurt our ability to win games?

Injuries are a part of the game. And like any part of the game, they effect the wins and losses.

Thank you. It's not "making excuses", it's simply realizing that when you're missing some of your most important pieces the wins come a lot harder. Some teams get lucky, like the Giants did w/ Tuck and being able to shift another young guy back from OLB to DE and having him perform well. But w/ most teams, if you lose the kind of players we lost (not to mention the number of them -- we're talking half of our starting secondary, people), the record is going to suffer.

Again, that's not making an excuse -- I'm not a member of this team and I don't work for them, so there's no need for me to make any excuses for them. It's acknowledging that we're missing some very important pieces of our plan at the moment. That's not on Thompson or McCarthy; it's luck, or at worst an indication that we need to do some work w/ our strength and conditioning (which I don't buy, since we've been one of the healthiest teams in the league for the past couple seasons). Sometimes your luck goes really bad and you lose a LOT of important players. It happens.

Here's the bright side, though: Imagine what this team might be able to do once they get healthy. They're 2-3 now, not 0-4, and this isn't a strong division. If they get healthy they can definitely come back and win the division -- and if they're healthy in the playoffs, they can be dangerous. Big 5 healthy and with the better part of a season playing together under their belts? I'd like to see that. Our secondary healthy, and Pat and Tramon having gained valuable on-field experience? I'd like to see that, as well.

The season's not over, by a long stretch, and injuries tend to heal. I'm going to stay optimistic for now.

Here's my take on the Falcons: They're a damn sight better as a team than they're being given credit for. Their O-line is certainly better than ours, their RBs are very good, and they've got a pretty damn good defense. There's a decent chance we'll see that reflected in their record @ the end of the year, but even if it isn't we weren't beaten by a 1-win team. This is 2008, not 2007, and several teams have shown that you can have a drastic change of fortunes from one year to the next.

So I'm not seeing how losing to them is such a massive failure. Now, I hate seeing the Pack lose @ home as much as anyone, and I'm never happy with any loss -- but Atlanta is not a crappy team by any means.

All i know is that I saw, DD, GJ,RM,JJ, and JN playing last week, but NEVER ON THE FIELD ALL AT THE SAME TIME!!!

Last year when there was no running game(until week8), The Packers put their best playmakers all on the field at the same time and put the pressure on the D to cover them all.

Whether it be injuries or something else, the running game is not working as well as it did last year.

I don't know what happened to the BIG 5 lineup, but with the receivers we have this year, it should be much better than last year.

PUT YOUR PLAYMAKERS ON THE FIELD AND LET THEM MAKE PLAYS.

If you can't set up the pass with the run game, why not try setting up the run game with the pass!!!! Worked last year, again OUR PLAYMAKERS ARE THE RECEIVERS ON THIS YEARS TEAM....USE THEM!!!!!!
I was addicted to The Hokey Pokey, but I turned myself around!
