Giants re-sign 44-year-old punter Jeff Feagles

The NFL's oldest punter has signed on for another season.

The 44-year-old Jeff Feagles agreed to a one-year deal with the New York Giants on Thursday. He will compete for the job with former Australian rules football player Jy Bond.

The Giants made two other moves Thursday, signing free agent safety Deon Grant, who played the past three seasons with Seattle, and rescinding their tender to restricted free agent safety C.C. Brown.

Feagles has never missed a game in his 22-year career and holds most of the NFL's significant punting records. He has spent the past seven seasons with the Giants and also played for New England, Philadelphia, Arizona and Seattle. He has a 41.6-yard career gross average and a 35.9-yard net average.

Feagles has played in an NFL-record 352 consecutive games. Only kickers Gary Anderson and Morten Andersen have played in more games in their careers.

Grant provides the Giants with insurance in case strong safety Kenny Phillips, who missed the final 14 games of the 2009 season after
undergoing knee surgery, is not ready for the start of the season. Grant joins the Giants just a few weeks after they added former Arizona free safety Antrell Rolle.

"We signed Deon Grant because he's durable," general manager Jerry Reese said. "He really hasn't missed time. He's a veteran who will bring depth and leadership to our safety position."
