I realize Brandon isn't the fastest guy, but he does have some things going for him that you want in a 3rd-down RB.
1) He has become exceptional in picking up blitzes. Latter half of the season, when B-Jack got playing time he did a solid, solid job blocking blitzers, which I think often gets overlooked because our line turned up their play a few notches. But Jackson is definitely the best pass-pro back on this team.
2) He is pretty good out of the backfield. He's got some shiftiness to him that is a plus, but add that to some good hands and you have a nice option on screens / check downs.
I wouldn't mind a RB early ... but I don't think it is a major need. Mix up B-Jack's skill set, and I think he provides you with options on third and short situations - either run or pass; he allows you to be versatile. Maybe not to the extent a CJ Spiller would, but still some non-the-less. That said, Jackson needs to show he can stay healthy... that is a concern.
A RB in the late rounds wouldn't be all that bad. I wouldn't mind Best at all - especially in the second round - but I'd look at him more of a returner than a 3rd down back with return abilities. He'd like alongside Grant as a 1/2 punch... but I think RB early isn't necessarily the best way to proceed to make this team better.
