Davis has red flags all over the place. Problem is, at 23, I think that Ted might take the gamble. He might just be too good to pass up on.

So did Oher, right?

I'd rather ship our first to Baltimore for Gaither and their second/third rounder. He's proven he can play in this league, what more could you want?

LT: Clifton
LG: Lang
OC: Spitz
RG: Sitton
RT: Gaither

Reserves: Wells, Colledge, Giacomini, Barbre

Then in the future:

LT: Gaither
LG: Draft Pick
OC: Spitz
RG: Sitton
RT: Lang

Seems like that would make sense. We'd have to pay Gaither a lot, but he could immediately start at RT and be our long term LT of the future (I highly doubt Clifton will playout his contract).

Then we'd have two second rounders to nab a tweener DE/OLB, and some safety help.

Oher had red flags? If anything, people could've been hestitant because of his Wonderlic number and, generally, not being that smart for an OT. He didn't have character issues, though.

Andre Smith had. He showed up at the combine in a horrible way, walked out on all kinds of things, including his pro day. He didn't join the team untill the last pre-season game, because he was looking for a big contract and then got injured in practice, being quite out of shape.

That's more of the stuff that I'm thinking about with Davis. Just take a look at McKinnie, as well. Boating incident, not showing up for Pro Bowl practices, the night club incident.

He's quite lazy in the playing department, as well.

But like I said, at 23, he might be too good to pass up on. The Vikings got a steal that way last year in Percy Harvin. It might be the best move the Packers ever made. You never know. I surely wouldn't mind going with him if he really falls that far.

You're right, I meant Andre Smith (whose been a bust so far). Despite that, we still desperately need a LT prospect. I'm still totally for acquiring Gaither or Davis even if it takes our first rounder. I'm not so sure about Brown from USC and I really don't like reaching in the first (see Ahmad Carroll and Justin Harrell). But of our needs: OT, S, RB, OLB. Only OLB and OT should really be taken in the first round.

I agree. Problem I have with Gaither is that he's a good, young LT, but not a great one. I'm pretty sure that Oher will be playing LT soon enough and Gaither will be dealt to another team or go back to the RT spot.

Now, Baltimore is in a luxury position here. We're not. I really like Brown, so I wouldn't mind looking to the draft to get our OT of the future. If Davis falls that far due to character issues, I'd be all for drafting him, as well. If you're not that high on those prospects or just want to play it safe, I can imagine that you'd like Gaither.

Couldn't agree more with your write-up on our needs, either. If someone like Earl Thomas falls to our pick, I'd love to go S, as well. With Clifton, Tauscher (most likely) and Lang on our roster, I figure that we can stretch it out one more year. OT is not an immediate need, not something we need to reach for, this way. Although we do have to come away with a good prospect on day 1/2.
