Childress breaks into song for enlightened reporters

INDIANAPOLIS At some point during Vikings coach Brad Childress media session Friday at the combine the details are slightly fuzzy things took a strange, hard turn. Id be remiss if I didnt pass this along.

Either he forgot to give an update on the injury, or he's a freakin' genius. I know how much VR loves Chilly, so I'm gonna assume he's an idiot that forgot.

Personally, I think he wanted to avoid the whole scenario and distracted the media with the song. Either way, it was hilarious.

BTW, I have no freakin' clue who/what/where Bat Masterson is/was.

The man isn't crazy. He knows what he's doing.

He essentially silences the media here. They don't have the slightest clue what to think. He avoids the question and it's pretty funny.

Same with the stewardess stuff. All the media attention goes right towards him. Not his players. They can focus on the more important things at that point.

Then again, he might just be totally cuckoo.

Formo-

Bat Masterson was a flamer when there was still something wrong with that.

lol

sorry.

I think he wore a derby, and the bat was a cane.

In a friggin' western series, for cripes sake.

12 o'clock high was on at the same time as that girly-man's re-runs.

Gregory Peck introduces himself to the group by explaining that they should all consider themselves already dead...this is guy shit, if you ask me.

Maybe some womenfolk might have watched Bat, but I assure you that every red-blooded American male wouldn't be caught dead watching it, especially with 12 o'clock high on the tube. You had all of three choices back then. We would all walk uphill in the snow (both directions) to the TV to change the channel, with a DIAL...can you imagine? :thumbleft:

In other words, if you don't know who Bat Masterson is, you ain't missed much, and if you want to find out who Chilly SHOULD have referenced instead...

"Have gun, will travel".

Now THAT was the shit!

That's my stance. He knows exactly what he's doing. Which is why I'm starting to REALLY warm up to him. Then you add the fact that every year under Chilly, the Vikings have improved their record by 2 wins each year. 6-10, 8-8, 10-6, 12-4. I'm not going to say the Vikes are gonna be 14-2 next year (if that happens, I'll freak), but anytime you have improvements like that on a consistent basis.. You'll get some fans.

Being an anti-fan of the media, I love how Chilly seems to treat them.

My dad (Army Air Corps "for the duration") hated TV. And he hated almost all war movies, especially the WWII ones. (He also hated the Red Cross, but that's another thread.) And he wasn't much for Gregory Peck generally.

But he really liked 12 O'Clock High. Movie and TV show.

That *was* seriously good shit.

Why the heck it doesn't get shown more nowadays, I have no effin clue. Do people really like to *rewatch* Jim Carrey movies *that* much?

Formo - I enjoyed watching EJ Henderson last year and it was really a shame when he went down. He may have been the difference in that Saints game.

Maybe Chilly is really smarter than we give him credit for. He may have played some psychological tricks with Favre, making him believe he's in control, just to get him on the team. You guys came so close last year.

Oh, and yes, the media should be toyed with. They tend to be self-righteous and are generally pretty annoying as people. Some of the most self-centered people you'll ever meet.

I also agree that there is probably more to Childress than first meets the eye. I live in MN and get inundated with Vikings info. There was one press conference last season (and I can't for the life of me remember what it was about) but Childress was asked a question by the media and gave a long, rambling answer that would have made a politician proud - because he spoke forever and didn't once answer the question. After that there was only silence because nobody had the guts to try to rephrase the question.

Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : sounds like Packers don't get good compensation, Jaire staying
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Nobody coming up with a keep, but at x amount
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Trade, cut or keep
dfosterf (16-Apr) : that from Jaire
dfosterf (16-Apr) : My guess is the Packers floated the concept of a reworked contract via his agent and agent got a f'
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Yes, and that is why I think Rob worded it how he did. Rather than say "agent"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Same laws apply. Agent must present such an offer to Jaire. Cannot accept or reject without presenting it
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : I'm thinking that is why Rob worded it how he did.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The Packers can certainly still make the offer to the agent
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Laws of agency and definition of fiduciary responsibility
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Jaire is open to a reduced contract without Jaire's permission
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The agent would arguably violate the law if he were to tell the Packers
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : That someone ... likely the agent.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : So, Jaire has not been offered nor rejected a pay reduction, but someone says he'd decline.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovksy says t was direct communication with someone familiar with Jaire’s line of thinking at that moment.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovsky just replied to me a bit ago. Jaire hasn't said it.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Of course, that depends on the definition of "we"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : We have been told that they haven't because he wouldn't accept it. I submit we don't know that
dfosterf (16-Apr) : What is the downside in making a calculated reduced offer to Jaire?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers are receiving interest in Jaire Alexander but a trade is not imminent
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Jalen Ramsey wants to be traded. He's never happy is he?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : two 1sts in 2022 and two 2nd's in 2023 and 2024
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers had fortunate last three drafts.

dfosterf (14-Apr) : Maybe send a crew of Angels to the Packers draft room on draft day.
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I am the Angel that gets visited.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Visiting Angels has a pretty good reputation
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : what
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : WINNING IT, not someone else losing it. The best victory though was re-uniting with his wife
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : The manner in which he won it was just amazing and wonderful. First blowing the lead then getting back, then blowing it. But ultimately
Zero2Cool (12-Apr) : I'm guessing since the thumb was broken, he wasn't feeling it.
dfosterf (10-Apr) : Looking for guidance. Not feeling the thumb.
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : If they knew about it or not
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : I don't recall that he did which is why I asked.
Zero2Cool (10-Apr) : Guessing they probably knew. Did he have cast or something on?
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : Did they know that at the time or was that something the realized afterwards?
Zero2Cool (9-Apr) : Van Ness played most of season with broken thumb
wpr (9-Apr) : yay
Zero2Cool (9-Apr) : Mark Murphy says Steelers likely to protect Packers game. Meaning, no Ireland
Zero2Cool (8-Apr) : Struggling to figure out what text editor options are needed and which are 'nice to have'
Mucky Tundra (8-Apr) : *CHOMP CHOMP CHOMP*
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : WR who said he'd break Xavier Worthy 40 time...and ran slower than you
Mucky Tundra (2-Apr) : Who?
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : Texas’ WR Isaiah Bond is scheduled to visit the Bills, Browns, Chiefs, Falcons, Packers and Titans starting next week.
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : Spotting ball isn't changing, only measuring distance is, Which wasn't the issue.
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : The spotting of the ball IS the issue. Not the chain gang.
