Packers Sign WR Dillon

The Green Bay Packers have signed WR Charles Dillon. Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations Ted Thompson announced the signing Tuesday.

A 6-foot, 202-pound first-year player, Dillon spent time with the Indianapolis Colts during training camp in 2008. A former Washington State letterman, he spent the 2009 season with the Spokane Shock in af2.

He will wear No. 17.

AF2... We sure are digging hard for our guys.

Apparently, he can return kicks a little.

hehe why am I disappointed ... guess I was hoping for something we need like a corner/safety/OL guess we could use another weapon for rodgers.

Least its a signing

oh rock just updated about returning kicks ... Nice! ... what were we 31st or 32nd on ST last year ... ya thats out of 32 teams ...

This doesn't make any sense at all, unless he is going to return kicks.

Why is that... we have 4 of the 5 to 6 receiver spots locked down.. and we need help in the return game yet.

This surprises me little.. remember we went to camp with what 13 or 14 receivers last season.. lol.

Per scouting profiles.. runs a 4.4 to 4.5 40.. set WSU single season reception mark...

AF highlights.. I know it the pace and speed of the game are different... but looks to have some moves and decent hands. Special teams more than likely.

Packers sign Arena Football receiver/returner

by Greg A. Bedard

Green Bay - The Packers signed former Washington State receiver Charles Dillon, who played last season in af2.

According to his Spokane Shock bio, Dillon (6-0, 202) caught 52 passes with the Cougars for 526 yards and returned 40 kicks for 835 yards.

When he came out of Washington State, Dillion ran a 4.46 in the 40 at his pro day in 2008 according to media reports. He spent part of training camp with the Indianapolis Colts. He was waived by the Colts with an injury settlement on Aug. 6, 2008.

Sounds like a candidate for a 5th receiver/return man position. Probably at best ends up being on the practice squad this year.

Just for comparison, we took 11 WRs into camp last year. I can imagine that we we'll be focusing heavily on their KR/PR skills this year. This seems to be the first body on our roster.

In essence, with the guys we have on the roster right now, it's going to be 5 guys fighting for 1 spot, most likely winning or losing it on KR/PR abilities.

Of course, we could just go without a 5th WR at all, with Finley on the roster. If we do find a CB or RB who can return kicks.

beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
