I like Brent Bowden from Virginia Tech. Of course, that may be because I'm a Tech fan, but whatever.
But he got coached by one of the best special teams-minded coaches there is....Frank Beamer.
I watched him play a lot and he always put Va. Tech's defense in a good position. He's fairly good at pinning it inside the 20.
Two-and-a-half step, right-footed punter. Good length and lateral agility to handle poorly-snapped balls. Catches the ball cleanly and has an efficient drop. Gains good height on his kicks quickly and has good leg extension. Improved hang time and directional skills as a senior. Placed 72 punts inside the opponents' 20-yard line over the past three years -- compared to 28 going for touchbacks. Could improve his angles in tracking down returners. Isn't as athletic as his frame would indicate and has struggled to track down returners when he has the opportunity (one career tackle). Reliable holder for PATs and field goals.
That is about Bowden. I think it would be a great value pick and we need a punter, so why not?
