I heard that because of his running style he played through a lot of nicks and various injuries that will drop him out of the first round. I just want to hear your take on this kid.

This is my opinion based on two Stanford games I watched.. he isn't a first round talent.

He is very stiff from the knees up, lacks an NFL burst, and relied way to much on his raw strength to punish the opposition.

I think he may be a tweaner.. running back / full back.. between the tackles bull type running that lacks any type of NFL breakaway speed.

In other words.. heck of a college player.. but may become a role type player / special teamer in the NFL.. but not anywhere near a franchise back in today's game.

Throw back type of player whom is playing in the incorrect era.

Gerhart seems to me like a 2nd-3rd rounder. He's very solid, but not spectacular. Two players that he reminds me of are Kevin Smith and Ladell Betts.

Has there ever been a decent white running back in the NFL? I can't think of one.

I think Atlanta and Tampa Bay had one for a while, but I can't remember which team had him first. 😛

Alstott... he was a full back whom got more carries than the average FB... ironically.. that is how I project Gerhart.. will be a role type player that can be leaned on here or there for stretches..

That's going way back, though. Go with pretty much any pre-70s RB and he'll be caucasion.

Canadeo, Thorpe, McNally, Van Buren, Strong, Hornung, Taylor... Etc. etc.

Another one from a litte later on would be Riggins, though. The Diesel. A crazy diesel, at that.
