Day one only consists of round one with the new format, so it's likely that we won't be drafting at two positions on day one.

That said, I'd love to have an option for DE/OLB in there. If you ask me, it's DE/OLB, OT and S on, what used to be, day one. Then again, I'm totally fine with picking a WR, RB, ILB or something like that if the guy would be a total steal.

I voted T and LB. Well, T is an obvious need and I think that we need another LB opposite of Matthews. I think Jerry Hughes is a possibility in the 2nd round.

I was split between picking T/LB and T/CB. I chose LB because I think that we are set for a couple more years at CB with Woodson and Harris and then on top of that add a healthy (hopefully) Pat Lee and Will Blackmon. I think that will help a lot.

We need an instant contributer at LB. Yes Brad Jones did great filling in for Kampman last year but I think he needs to have some split time. He needs to get a little bigger in the weight room as well.

Whoops.

There was a linebacker option.

Start with these:

Okung, Buluga, Williams and Campbell.

Any of those still left, we take him. (yes, they are tackles, lol)

lupati (g/t)

Now it gets dicey, and notice Brown isn't there.

If somehow Haden (cb) Berry or Thomas (free safeties) are still there, you gotta take one of those.

If they are all gone, but Brandon Graham DE/OLB--- you take him, but I am certainly not married to this one...(I'm in "flesh out the concept" mode)

If he is gone, you bite the bullet and take Charles Brown (skinny tackle)

I hate the pick, but find it "most likely". Not HATE, exactly, more along the lines of "it sucks to be in a position where we gotta take him "hate".

If HE is gone, I START CONSIDERING, very HESITANTLY...taking that moron Taylor Mays.

This is my pre-combine guesstimate.

Everything is "in order" yes, it is, lol

Rock only gets a shot at Graham because Kindle and Hughes are long gone by our pick in the 2nd. If you want either of those, you better start coming up with a trade back or a trade up scenario, imo--past that, start looking at Jason Worlids Va tech in the 3rd, Cameron Sheffield in the 4th (unless Myron Rolle is still there, lol) maybe Denny Bratton, Dexter Davis late.

Dream scenario : O'Brien Schofield is a Packer zealot, goes undrafted, we make the call, and he's an UDFA olb prospect for us. :thumbleft:

...could happen...he is mostly an Illinois kid, but his cousin is Vonnie Holliday, FWIW.

You have Sapp, Kindle, Misi and maybe Hughes in the 2nd round. A trade up there isn't something I'd mind. Our 3rd and our 2nd to frogleap some of the teams that need a pass rusher. Although I'd hate to throw away an extra pick. I wouldn't want to miss out on a change of pace RB or Myron Rolle because we had to trade up 15 spots.

I like your strategy, though. I'd stay away from both Trent Williams and Taylor Mays, but they wouldn't be absolutely horrible picks at 23.

Trading down from in the 1st would be an option, but that'd leave you without a tackle prospect. There's a huge cap between the group that stops with Brown and the one that starts with Ducasse. Or maybe Capers.

Why the hell would this topic be here? Yet we have an Antrel Rolle topic in the Packer section? lol.

Must be a logical reason for this not to be in the Packer draft sub forum.. lol.

Maybe Zero hit the bottle a little early today.. 😉

I don't know understand why the Rock is frogleaping Trent Williams. What's wrong with Trent?

I'll be frogleaping you if you keep this up. ::lol:

I don't like Trent. He's not very good in the running game. Now, if he was an elite player in pass protection, I wouldn't mind that, but even there he has quite some flaws.

Most of the time when he faced elite college pass rushers, he got his behind handed to him. Making mental mistakes, just not kick-sliding soon and/or fast enough. Losing the leverage battle. Losing the hand battle. It's something I don't want to see from my first round pick.

If you pick him, you'll pick on potential. He has the size, athleticism, arms etc. to become a good tackle. It's just too risky for me, with the line we have in place. If we take a bust, Rodgers will be on his back for, at least, another 2 years.

I/we are suppose to feel better about this type of Rookie at left tackle than Lang if we fail to have a proven left tackle on the roster?

:Shakes Head: then lmao..

Martha Careful (3h) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
beast (4h) : You can't assume Ohio State would of won the Michigan game...
beast (4h) : Rankings were 1) Oregon 2) Georgia 3) Texas 4) Penn State 5) Notre Dame 6) Ohio State, none of the rest mattered
wpr (6h) : Texas, ND and OSU would have been fighting for the final 2 slots.
wpr (6h) : Oregon and Georgia were locks. Without the luxury of extra playoff berths, Ohios St would have been more focused on Michigan game.
wpr (6h) : Zero, no. If there were only 4 teams Ohio State would have been one of them. Boise St and ASU would not have been selected.
Zero2Cool (8h) : So that was 7 vs 8, that means in BCS they never would made it?
Martha Careful (10h) : A great game. Give ND credit for coming back, although I am please with the outcome.
Mucky Tundra (16h) : FG to make it academic
Mucky Tundra (17h) : and there's the dagger
Mucky Tundra (17h) : ooooo 8 point game with 4 minutes to go!
Mucky Tundra (17h) : ooooooooohhhhhh he missed!
Mucky Tundra (17h) : Ooooo that completion makes things VERY interesting
Mucky Tundra (17h) : Game not over yet
beast (18h) : Oh yeah, Georgia starting quarterback season ending elbow injury
beast (18h) : Sadly something happened to Georgia... they should be playing in this game against Ohio State
beast (18h) : I thought Ohio State and Texas were both better than Notre Dame & Penn State
Mucky Tundra (18h) : Notre Lame getting rolled
Martha Careful (19h) : Ohio State just got punched in the gut. Lets see how they respond
Mucky Tundra (20h) : Notre Lame vs the Luckeyes, bleh
Mucky Tundra (20h) : Oh snap!!!
Zero2Cool (20h) : Even Stevie Wonder can see that.
Zero2Cool (20h) : Nah, you see Lions OC leaving to be HC of Bears is directly related to Packers.

Zero2Cool (23h) : Then he'll land with another team and flourish.

Mucky Tundra (19-Jan) : Oren Burks with a clutch pass break up...I will now light myself on fire
Mucky Tundra (19-Jan) : a run on 2nd down and 17 from McVay? So that's where MLF gets it from!
Mucky Tundra (19-Jan) : Do or die time for the Rams
TheKanataThrilla (19-Jan) : Kicking field goals are impressive
Mucky Tundra (19-Jan) : Oh that might be a backbreaker
Mucky Tundra (19-Jan) : That's what I thought too, just wasn't sure
TheKanataThrilla (19-Jan) : Kicking doesn't make much sense
Mucky Tundra (19-Jan) : If the Rams score a TD on the upcoming drive, they go for 2, right?
TheKanataThrilla (19-Jan) : Stafford is pretty good with 4th quarter comebacks. I would like to see it.
