There are always a few late round guys which some members have high hopes for. I recall Foster being in love with Robinson (who we passed on to pick Meredith), for instance. We could post some of those guys in this thread. Maybe include highlight vids. Make your case on why we should draft them.

It isn't going to help us get the guy, but it's usually a nice start to a debate. Or it'll die a swift death.

I'll kick it off.

Tyson Alualu. He plays DT for the Golden Bears. 6"3, 295. I don't see him as a real mauler right now, but he has some good athleticism for his frame and some great quickness. And maybe even more important, he keeps on working. That's his biggest strength. I can see us using him as a pass rusher pretty early on in his career. I think that he'd be great opposite of Jenkins in our nickel package, asuming that we want someone in it who can rush.

And if he can bulk up a little and not lose to much of his athleticism and quickness, he'll be a great replacement for Jenkins once he retires or even gets traded this, or next, year.

Right now, I'd put him down as a mid 3rd to late 4th selection.

Because of Mike Mayock, his stack has risen a bit. He's a late 2nd, early 3rd rounder. He's a nice player, but really does not fit the 3-4 as seen in the Senior Bowl practices.

This one might go undrafted, although almost all of the players in the "Texas vs. the Nation" game do in fact get picked by someone.

He's not "my guy" or anything, but if he was undrafted and we made a quick phone call, I believe he has some serious upside. I watched some film on him. The quality of the film is akin to mom bringing a webcam to a high school game.

That why I wanted to start him off as a 2-4-5 nickel DT. I think he'd fit in well, rush the passer a little more, play against the interior line.

I believe that, if he bulks up a little, he can play 3-4 DE. He's athletic, but not as gifted as some of the guys in the league. If he loses some athleticism for mass, I think that the trade off will be worth it. He'll still be that high motor guy, he's still quick off the snap and he'll gain some strength and bosy mass while developping.

If we do trade either Jenkins or Jolly next year, he'll be ready. It'll take a year, but I think that we'd have a kid who can play a 3-4 DE then.

Why would we trade Jenkins or Jolly?

Besides there are a lot of guys in the 3rd-5th rounds who are much better fits to the 3-4 system (to name a few: Alex Carrington, Geno Atkins, Vince Oghobaase). I'd like us to draft a guy who would be a solid backup and wouldn't require an excess amount of work.

Some stuff I picked up from Pelissero and just looking at our finances at that position.

They're both in a contract year. Jenkins will be 31. Jolly has character concerns. Both will want quite some money. Asuming we resign Pickett, we'll have a lot of money tied up in our d-line. Especially if Raji will start hitting some escalators. If they won't be traded, I see one walk away in FA, anyway.

So Jenkins is aging at that point, fits better into a 4-3 than a 3-4 according to some and we'll have a lot of money invested at the position. A DE would make a lot of sense.

I wouldn't mind the guys you said. The work we'd have to put in on this guy would make him even more of an under the radar pick.

I do wonder why you put down Alex Carrington, who's obvioulsy not close to ideal playing weigth at DE. If anything, he's just as ready as Alualu, or our pick last year, Wynn.

Here's a runningback for the Rock, if he goes undrafted.

He is not invited to the combine, so he's not going to send everyone ga-ga with his speed, PLUS he got popped for drugs in college, so we might have a shot at him with a quick phone call after the draft.

LaMarkus Coker

n the East Coast Bowl, Coker rushed twelve times for 204 yards and three touchdowns and was named the most valuable player of the game. It has also been reported, that Coker ran a 4.27 second, 40 yard dash in front of NFL scouts, during the combine event held prior to the game.

In the HBCU Bowl, Coker led all players with 3 reception and 82 yards, despite playing with an injured finger.

Coker is currently training at Perfect Competition in Davie, Florida, in preparation for his Pro Day workout. It has been reported that Coker ran a 4.26 electronic timed forty yard dash on 02/16/10.

5'11" just under 200, and yes, he can return kicks . :thumbleft:

He's been through rehab, I could post his blah blah human interest story, more interested in that 40 time, lol

That's quite nice.

This is the kind of hidden gem that I love. And if he did complete rehab, I'm all for giving him a second chance.
