Al Harris: Road to Recovery

This is Part I of a video series Al Harris is doing for NFP about his rehabilitation process. After watching the video I must say before I had no idea how bad the injury really was.

Yea..same. Worst knee injury he's seen in 20 years? That's some serious stuff. Al is a tough dude though so hopefully all his hard work will pay off and we'll see him back on the field and contributing next year.

I was in pain watching him lol.

I hope for the best from Harris. He is a great player and leader for our team. Hope he can stick around and retire as a Packer!

I can't watch that video. As a medic, I HATED doing knee exams or helping with knee physical therapy. It's so painful.

I'm definitely not watching it then. I have a football knee injury and I cringe when someone's in knee pain.

Love Al though. Hope he's 100% next year.

I have serious doubts as to Al making a good come-back from the knee injury; as to begin with he was never the fastest cover guy around. Hate to lose a guy with the talents he did have though. If it is the case that Al Harris doesn't return, the void in the CB group will be huge and I doubt that Williams can adequately fill that void; so does that indicate that T. Thompson wiill once again be drafting a CB early? So far his record on drafting CB's is rather dismal. Mock draft says CB is number one on the GB draft list.

When has Thompson spent a early round pick on a CB past Lee?

And Lee can't stay healthy, even though he was so in college.

Thompson's DB picks..

2005 5 167 Michael Hawkins DB
2006 4 115 Will Blackmon DB
2008 2 60 Patrick Lee DB
2009 6 187 Brandon Underwood DB

Simply put, with Woodson and Harris on board, he hasn't had to fill a need early at CB and could focus on other areas of the team.

And to be honest, selling either Underwood or Lee short at this point is antsy at best.

The only other secondary player drafted on day one was Collins, and I wouldn't classify that as a miss.. sure he makes mistakes back there, but he has unreal range and makes his fair share of plays.

Now would I argue that we need to infuse some talent back there... yes... but I think we need a safety back there that can effectively communicate the coverages and switches, which I think is part of the problems that bite us on occasion, especially when teams throw motion or stacks at us and make us play without bumps and contact and we are forced to adjust... then our coverages simply break down.

Mucky Tundra (23h) : According to reports, Mel Kiper is furious that Sanders wasn't selected as the new Pope

Zero2Cool (8-May) : Collin Whitchurch @cowhitchurch · 1h Chicago got a pope before it got a QB to throw for 4,000 yards in a season.
Mucky Tundra (8-May) : New Pope from Chicago; in other words, the city produced a Pope before a 4000 yard passer

dfosterf (4-May) : FYI civilian companies swipe the S2 designation from the military. S2 is the intelligence branch up to brigade level. G2 is division level.
dfosterf (4-May) : Google it. Make sure to tack NFL on it or you will get the military meaning
Zero2Cool (4-May) : S2?
beast (4-May) : Seems like the S2 has a love/hate relationship with professional scouts.
beast (4-May) : In theory, the S2 test how quickly a QBs brain can solve game like issues and how quickly they can do it.
dfosterf (4-May) : Are you gentlemen and at least one lady familiar with the S2 cognition
Zero2Cool (4-May) : Maybe there isn't an issue.
beast (4-May) : NFL really needs to fix their position labeling issue, but I don't think they care
Zero2Cool (1-May) : Packers did not activate the fifth-year options for linebacker Quay Walker, with the goal of signing him to a contract extension.
Zero2Cool (1-May) : Matthew Golden spoke with Randall Cobb before draft. Looked like chance encounter.

Zero2Cool (1-May) : Unlikely.
dfosterf (30-Apr) : How long until Jeff Sperbeck's family sues John Elway ?
Zero2Cool (30-Apr) : Packers are exercising the fifth-year option on DT Devonte Wyatt, locking in a guaranteed $12.9M for the 2026 season.
beast (30-Apr) : Sounds like P Luke Elzinga has a rookie try out opportunity from the Titans
dfosterf (30-Apr) : Luke Elzinga Punter Oklahoma stil unsigned. Green Bay has been mentioned as good fit

Martha Careful (28-Apr) : RIP Packer Safety Tim Brown
beast (27-Apr) : Yeah, but also some of the wording suggestions Jax only pranked called the QB, not the others... and if he had an open spreadsheet & 3 calls
beast (27-Apr) : Thank goodness he's not leaving the Turtle in the Red Tide
Mucky Tundra (27-Apr) : Cowboys 1st round pick Tyler Booker will indeed be bringing his pet turtle to Dallas with him
Mucky Tundra (27-Apr) : that contained all prospects info and contact
Mucky Tundra (27-Apr) : beast, according the Falcons statement Jax came across it on an ipad. If I had to guess, probably an open spread sheet or something
