Like I always say..

If you can't say something nice about a second-rate European nation that would have been wiped off the face of the earth twice in the last century if it wasn't for the U.S., and has brought nothing of value to this culture but wine and cheese ... both of which are made better in California ... then don't say anything at all.

Just added Guido Bertolaso to my list of people who are banned from my anti-zombie compound once the plague starts.

You know what? Screw it. I say we stop all foreign aid, stop all interventions, and stop bailing out foreign governments. Let's let the rest of the world fall.

It's just one guy in Italy. Just one guy. Why make millions of people suffer because one idiot who probably has an axe to grind with the U.S. for whatever reason decided to pop his mouth off. The guy is probably lobbying for something, maybe he wants to get his name out there for election purposes.

In the past few months I've come to believe that natural selection should apply to sovereign nations as well as individuals. If nations can't find ways to improve the lives of their citizenry -- or even survive -- without relying on foreign aid, then maybe they have ipso facto forfeited their right to sovereignty. It's a truism that if you subsidize a behavior, you get more of it. Our foreign aid programs subsidize the behaviors that keep these countries in substandard conditions. I say we end all foreign aid programs. Nations that have the gumption and intelligence will find ways to pull themselves up by their bootstraps; groups that believe they can do it better than the nations to which they belong will be able to break away and start anew. Those lands that do not have the will to survive will simply be subsumed into other countries, which is where they probably belong anyway.

If people want to help the citizens of other countries, they should open their wallets and give generously. (God loves a generous giver.) But governments of nations shouldn't be in the charity business propping up decaying regimes that are well past the age of obsolescence.

I don't believe, that just because they don't all have a cell phone, or a new car or a laptop that they're a backwards nation. All nations are at different stages and I feel all people have an obligation to help the less fortunate in their time of need. I don't think you would say this if it happened in Canada. Maybe i'm wrong.

You're goin' through some new unexplored terrain with the cynicism...

good luck waitin' for that philanthropy third world...

There are so many people in this world that we truly are their last and only hope...hell, even a lot of our enemies know that.

It's cool though...I know how you roll. :thumbleft:

All the wars would be kinda fun to watch.

dfosterf (25-Jun) : of the folks that run this team. I do not recall Mark Murphy being subject to our vote.
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Ed Policy yay or nay is on the pre-approved ballot that we always approve because we are uninformed and lazy, along with all the rest
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Weird question. Very esoteric. For stockholders. Also lengthy. Sorry. Offseason.

Mucky Tundra (25-Jun) : And then he signs with Cleveland in the offseason
Mucky Tundra (25-Jun) : @SharpFootball WR Diontae Johnson just admitted he refused to enter a game in 41° weather last year in Baltimore because he felt “ice cold”
