Yes, we usually agree, lol.

If I left any confusion about the whole concept of a HC/GM combo deal...

I would not advocate that if we are talking about Jesus Christ and God running the show.

I would want Bill to PICK his GM. I know that is semi-backwards, but that is what I would want... He just might PICK Ted, too... really.

If McCarthy's admittedly tiring post-loss press-conference lexicon is an actual reason why people want him gone, I think we [fans] need to seriously re-evaluate things. If you want to argue that we're suffering from similar problems week in and week out, then put it that way. Just don't take such issue with what is, at best, press-conference "style points." I couldn't give two shits about how McCarthy or Thompson communicate in press conferences. I'd also have to be completely naive to think that the message McCarthy delivers to the team is as cookie-cutter politically correct as the "pad level/we need to get it fixed" speech we're so used to hearing.

I don't see a lot of our problems as directly attributable to coaching. Naturally, though, persistent inconsistencies are cause enough for people to look to the top of the latter (TT and MM).

I say give us some real options on the o-line and let us continue to add players and gain comfortability in the 3-4 -- we'll be dangerous. If we're not dangerous right now, that's honest to god good enough for me. We have plenty of season left and I'm still confident the Pack can make a push -- I just don't think we need to burn the house down if it ends in disappointment.

Let me just say this, I really, really like Mccarthy but if his teams continue to play undisciplined football, he's going to get the axe sooner rather than later. We led the NFL in penalty yardage last year after finishing 2nd in 2007, and we were 2nd in the NFL last yard in penalties after being 4th in 2007. We're sitting 3rd in the NFL with 30 penalties right now, just can't continue to happen. Bill Cowher would be awesome in GB, but unfortunately I feel like he's going to coach in his hometown of North Carolina with the Panthers.

The best case for a big name coach coming to GB would be Jon Gruden or Mooch. I think both have wanted to coach the Packers for along time, certainly Mooch who grew up a Packer fan.

However, if GB continues to play like it has, McCarthy will not be fired and neither will Thompson. The Packers are eight or nine win team right now. Seven at worse. They aren't losing their jobs unless the team finishes with six or fewer wins.

Thank you for saying that. How many NFL coaches say anything of worth in their press conferences? Not many. It is not very often that they are going to call out their players in the media, if that's what people are wanting. It's a desperation move, and if it doesn't work, the coach will start to lose his locker room.

2-2 and fans want the coach fired. Sometimes I hate the Internet.

I think people are jumping the gun assuming others are jumping the gun. The 2-2 record is not why some are considering the coach being canned. It's more so the tip of the ice berg. When you see the same failures year in year out, that means the coaching staff is failing.

Flags, bad OL play, no pass rush, etc ...

No one is saying OMG 2 - 2 FIRE THE COACH! What's being said is ... we should be better than 2 - 2 right now, but fact is, we're not. Look at the poll on the site, most contest that the OL is a chief concern. What was the problem last year? '07? '06? At least in '07 we busted out the short passing game to mask the bad OL play and it opened things up. Why not do that this year? Why continue banging your head against a brick wall hoping for a new result?

The season is young, and coach can still CLEAN THIS HOUSE and get the Pack back on track! I'm pulling for McCarthy to do so, but the signs of a failing coach are starting to be come increasingly visible.

Greg I respect your opinion greatly..

First, it is clear from the get go of this thread that it isn't a request to have him fired now.. more of a warning flare in the night of the season.

Second, we have much more to make the grounds for such a opinion than four games.. it is the same issues that cycle and little other than words are offered to get them fixed.

If the coach is going to weekly play the fundamentals as the reason, sooner or later he is got to either fix the root problem or offer up to the customers of this franchise why the product is failing.

This offensive line has been failing for a couple of years now.. but Clifton and Tauscher were in place to at least offer a little stability to the unit. The depth at tackle and the next generation has been in question for a couple of years.

They put a off season plan together that looked thin on paper.. and inexperience at the lead. That happens, but generally a team has a plan B in mind.. our plan B can't even make the gameday actives..

So as a fan, you say okay, we have seen this before at the guard spot.. they can't make the same mistake yet again can they? Looking at the roster makeup going into the season.. you say, they are rolling the dice okay.

We turn up snake eyes in depth and starter production.. but we get lucky and we have an early bye week to shore this up a little. However the bye week arrives, all players are given the week off and the scouting staff, coaches, and front office do little to remedy the situation.

And you wonder why fans are starting to fire warning flares and grumble?

It is early enough to save this season, yet the sense of urgency seems to have fallen upon deaf ears at 1265 Lombardi.

Maybe the fires are brewing behind the walls and they have seen the flares overhead.. we shall see.

beast (20-Apr) : I'm not sure they have different playbooks for different OL positions, and Dillard run blocking is supposedly worse than his pass blocking..
dfosterf (19-Apr) : The only problem with that is he isn't a guard either.
dfosterf (19-Apr) : Put him at right guard. That is where he will be coached. That is where he will compete. He is not even allowed to look at the LT playbook.
dfosterf (18-Apr) : Kidding aside, I hope the best for him.
dfosterf (18-Apr) : Went to a Titans board. One comment there. Not very long. I quote: "LOL" They don't sound overly upset about our aquisition.
beast (18-Apr) : OT Dillard has been absolutely horrible... like OG Newman levels
dfosterf (18-Apr) : Suit him up and have him stand in front of the big board as a draft day cautionary tale.
