It's a good move to first help get under the cap and then add needed talent.

It looks like that was the low hanging fruit to free up some money.

You can cut some guys here.

Are you saying we should do all that, or we did do all that?

At the start of the season, I might have agreed on Turner. And although he did not have a good NFC Championship game, he was incredibly versatile throughout the year. IDK if he is a potential answer at RT, but if so, it is much easier to find guards than tackles.

Keep Turner, but release Wagner(saved: $4,250,000) and Kirksey (saved: $5,600,000). Also, releasing Preston Smith post June-1 saves $12 million (not $8 million), and Dean Lowry being post June-1 saves about $4.8 million (not $3.3 million). Point being: there are ways to structure to cuts under CBA to get even more cap room.

I'd also extend Adams (and Ja Money too... cuz we/I love him). From what Gutey said right around the end of the season (before playoffs started), the Packers expect to be players in the secondary market (i.e., released vets that won't count against compensatory pick calculations). That'd be smart, too, because that secondary market is likely to have a lot more talent than normal years. So, while I'd expect the Packers to chase (and hopefully get Watt), I don't think the Packers are in cap savings mode with just Watt in mind... in other words, I'd expect a couple well-known names to be on the Packers' radar after the draft.

Cheesey (10-Feb) : Yup, Mucky. Brady is “the chosen one”. He could knife a guy in the field, and they’d flag the other guy for bleeding!
Mucky Tundra (10-Feb) : Zero, I wonder if Wisconsin promised him the HC at some point in the future
Mucky Tundra (10-Feb) : yeah Cheesey,I love how Brady ran 10+ yards and bumps into Mathieu helmet first the refs do nothing but when Mathieu turns to walk away and just points at Brady they instantly flag him

Mucky Tundra (9-Feb) : and it just looked a little funky to anyone since they took away stops from the Chiefs D and Tampa scored TDs off the drives
Mucky Tundra (9-Feb) : Zero, the penalties were a little iffy and compared to what was going on when GB played Tampa absolutely nothing. Throw in the timing of them (bailed Tampa out of INT and a failed 3rd down conversion)

Cheesey (8-Feb) : Mahomes has to run for his life all game.
Mucky Tundra (8-Feb) : Zero, I was watching it closely until the Fournette TD in the 3rd. Was hoping Mahomes would put on a show

Cheesey (8-Feb) : Tampa’s defense should be MVP.
Cheesey (8-Feb) : To me, the commercials sucked too.
Mucky Tundra (8-Feb) : It's a look that says "even if I can make it close, the refs will put their thumb on the scale"
Cheesey (8-Feb) : Mahomes has the same look on his face thatRodgers had.
