Matt Flynn's greatest success in the NFL came when he filled in for Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay. He may get another chance to do that. The Packers plan to bring Flynn in for a workout, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. That indicates some level of interest in Flynn from the Packers' brass,...

If they're going to do so, should they not have done so already?

If they do sign them I would be guessing that Rodgers will be out for more than 3 weeks, because it would take Flynn atleast that long to get back to speed.

Or he could just be viewed as a better long term backup than anyone else available in the Packers system. He was hoping to compete for a starting job, so I don't blame Flynn for going to Buffalo. Now that his options are coming out, he might be the perfect fit to be the backup QB in Green Bay again, once he gets healthy. He's proved he could do it before, so if he can get healthy, why couldn't he do it again, with a better running game?

Or perhaps McCarthy thinks he can get the same results with Wallace, with proper preparation. If so, awesome.

Dunno about that. He knows the offense. Just has to get timing down.

Sounds to me like he might be a backup plan in case Seneca shits himself.

I like this idea much better than the one where everyone wanted to just straight out sign him despite him looking awful all year. Now they can at least check out that elbow.

My guess is somebody who knows the system will be a better person to back-up and push Wallace. Let's just hope Flynn is medically cleared to play.

I don't know how much this could factor into it, but I heard there was some traveling issues with Matt Flynn or something.

I can't say I put much stock into that because if I'm Matt Flynn, I drop EVERYTHING the second I see Aaron Rodgers go down and book a flight to Green Bay, regardless of being invited. That way when/if called, he can be like "No, I can't be Aaron Rodgers, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night".

Of course, ANY of those would be better than Wallace.

Z2C, you seemed to say in chat that we signed Flynn. true or False?

It seems obvious now that Wallace ain't gonna get cut or even replaced by Sunday, so write off that game. However, there would seem to be plenty of time before the Giants game to have Tolzien or Flynn or even somebody else ready to go.

Wow. Way to give Seneca Wallace a chance. Though, I'm sure you hope he lights up Philly, NYG, MIN and DET as much as I do.

Hell, Rodgers going down 1st series is going to shake any team, with that level of talent and ability being lost. Seneca Wallace came in about as cold as can be, and we still had opportunities to win the game. I'm more than happy to wait a couple of weeks to see what he can do for the Packers, with some legitimate preparation.

Until then, I would not mind Flynn backing Wallace up if he is healthy enough to sign. Then if the staff deems it necessary to change course until Aaron is ready, they can with Flynn.

I'm just curious if you have ever seen Tolzien play? I might get criticized for this because I know I am among many Badgers fans in here, but he isn't really any good.

The game is not too big for Flynn. We know this because we have seen him respond quite well. As for Tolzien? wow. To say he is anything better than Wallace is just a figment of someone's imagination. Based on what?

As for Vince Young, Graham Harrell, and the Coleman kid, the staff clearly saw things they did not like. That is why they are no longer here. I hope they sign Flynn if healthy, and I have no problem supporting Wallace for a reasonable amount of time. See what he's got, with some real preparation.
