1. Beast, thanks for the 506 (TV availability) post. I am lucking out on the TV coverage here in Naples, FL.

2. Any update on Akeem Hicks availability....last I saw he was questionable, and along with Mack was not practicing. IMO Hicks is the most important player to their defense. (I would LOVE to see him in GB.) If we get Myers and Jenkins back and Hicks is not playing, I will be very warm and fuzzy.

Please Note: The Bears OL is reportedly grading out better than I expected them to... and one of the reasons for this is because they're one of three teams whom have run the ball more than pass the ball.

1 New Orleans 54.74%
2 Cleveland 52.55%
3 Chicago 51.56%
9 San Francisco 45.14%
11 Cincinnati 44.21%
18 Green Bay 41.04%
19 Minnesota 40.00%
26 Detroit 36.06%

So the Packers should expect a heavy dosage of running, and maybe they should still run blitz. Bottom Line, put as much pressure on that backfield as possible, as a young rookie backfield might not know how to handle it.

I think Nagy wants to protect Fields and keep him primarily in plausible play-action and RPO. Despite some of the articles referenced, i am not convinced play action works unless a team is effective running the ball OR run with a much higher frequency, which the Bares appear to be doing.

Averaging what 4 yards per carry is good, but even if a running game is averaging 5, over three plays that's still only 15 yards. One error against an elite QB can easily be 20 yards or more. So to get a defensive more concerned with a running game over an elite QB, you either have to average more than 6 yards per run, or you have to keep on running to actually make the defense think you will.

And I think this was a large problem of the Packers offense in the first six quarters of this year's (Saints game and Lions 1st half).

In that they refused to establish the running game first, and tried to get the defense to bite on play fake runs anyways (why would they bite on fake runs when you haven't established it and they know the Aaron Rodgers threat?)...

Also for whatever reason (I'm not sure why), the Packers long ball game really hasn't connected as well as it normally does, with exception to Adams. But the long ball opportunities have been there, with tight windows just something hasn't connected too often.

I forget whom (maybe Tony Dungy?) but one of the talking heads was complaining that defenses (I assume he means 49ers and Bengals) keep saying, this is what we do and keep to their normal scheme (I assume aggressive man coverage) and according to the talking head, you can't do that against Rodgers and Adams and expect to stop them.

I am wondering, how would/will Rodgers and LaFleur respond to a team that plays conservative coverage all game long... because that's where Rodgers has struggled, mainly because they (Rodgers/LaFleur) seem to get impatient and tries to go more aggressive instead of just taking the check down 5 yards stuff given and keep getting first down after first down, go for a deep coverage beater and again, for whatever reason, those just haven't connected against more conservative coverage's for whatever reason other than to Adams this year.

But you can bet Mike Zimmer and the Vikings will try testing their patients... and I'm sure the Bears coaches have shown the Bears defense how they got embearrassed last year and that defense wants an improved showing.

I saw where someone brought up a great point, the Bears hired former defensive coordinator Pettine.

He might have a better understanding of the Packers weaknesses or preference more than any other person in the NFL considering he was in the building with Rodgers for three years. And coached with LaFleur for two? Plus knows defensive players strengths and weaknesses very well.

But the Bears defense sucked last year against the Packers, they MIGHT look a lot better this time. Of course having Hicks health alone might do that, especially if the OL isn't healthy.

Also that's another thing we haven't talked about, if the entire OL is healthy, then who lm starts and where?

RT: Turner
C: Myers
You put Jenkins at LT or LG?
Runyan has played better than the other interior OGs (though he looked horrible in preseason, in season has looked great).

I'm debating between there two
1) Nijman, Jenkins, Myers, Runyan, Turner
2) Jenkins, Runyan, Myers, Patrick, Turner

I think #1 gets the best 5 on the field, but #2 moves the OGs around less and puts the best pass blockers at the OTs and I think it's more likely.

Though, they might stay with Newman over Patrick, both are struggling in the running game, I think Patrick is the better pass blocker... and we got Rodgers, we're going to be a pass first team.

If it weren't Smith and Mack on the bookends, I think you would see 1, but I think 2 is more likely. I would like to see Jenkins, Runyan, Myers, Newman, Turner

Of course, you might expect to use dime less against the Bears with them running the ball more often right now, and having, in theory, two better coverage ILBers than we're used to.

But still who's backup for whom and where might get interesting should they have a need for backups.

And they actives a WR from the PS instead of a DB.

Zero2Cool (5m) : I know we moved on. That tidbit just makes me a touch happier.
Zero2Cool (14m) : Sources spoke of many, many times last summer where Hackett called a play, then Rodgers changed it completely at the line
Martha Careful (10-May) : 1. this is true of all our linemen. 2. His run block is fine. 3. If all OL played like he has, we would win SB.
beast (10-May) : Meyers pass blocking is really good, his run blocking is really not.
Zero2Cool (9-May) : Packers have claimed DE Spencer Waege off of waivers from the 49ers and waived DT Rodney Mathews.
Zero2Cool (9-May) : And the OL protections seem to be good.
Zero2Cool (9-May) : I really don't know lol. I don't see him getting blown up.
Zero2Cool (9-May) : -3 buwahhhahaaha
Mucky Tundra (9-May) : 4th
Zero2Cool (9-May) : because he's 1st
Mucky Tundra (9-May) : Myers isn't even the 3rd best C on the roster atm
Martha Careful (9-May) : I am not sure I understand the Myers hate. He was consistently our third best lineman. RG and LT were worse.
beast (9-May) : Just saying I don't think moving Myers would help Myers.
beast (9-May) : Center is usually considered the easiest position physically if you can handle the snap stuff.
Mucky Tundra (8-May) : Bust it is then
Zero2Cool (8-May) : Context. Sounds like Myers won't be cross-trained. C or bust.
Mucky Tundra (8-May) : @BookOfEli_NFL Packers pass game coordinator, Jason Vrable said that Jayden Reed and Dontayvion Wicks shared a placed in Florida while train
Mucky Tundra (8-May) : For now...
Zero2Cool (8-May) : Packers go about evaluating their "best five," OL coach Luke Butkus makes on thing clear: "Josh Myers is our center."
beast (8-May) : Though I'm a bit surprised letting go of CBs, I thought we needed more not less
beast (8-May) : It was confusing with two DB Anthony Johnson anyways
Zero2Cool (8-May) : Packers actually had Ray Lewis on the phone.
Zero2Cool (8-May) : Packers wanted to draft Ray Lewis. Ravens stole him.
Martha Careful (6-May) : Happy 93rd Birthday to the Greatest Baseball Player of All-Time...Willie Mays
Zero2Cool (6-May) : Walter Stanely's son
buckeyepackfan (6-May) : and released CB Anthony Johnson and DL Deandre Johnson and waived/injured WR Thyrick Pitts (thigh-rick).
buckeyepackfan (6-May) : The Green Bay Packers have signed WR Julian Hicks, OL Lecitus Smith (luh-SEET-us) and WR Dimitri Stanley
Zero2Cool (6-May) : Petty, but it's annoying me how the NFL is making the schedule release an event.
Mucky Tundra (4-May) : @mattschneidman Matt LaFleur on how he tore his pec: “Got in a fight with the bench press. I lost.”
Zero2Cool (3-May) : Jordan Love CAN sign an extension as of today. Might tak weeks/months though
TheKanataThrilla (3-May) : Packers decline 5th year option for Stokes
Mucky Tundra (3-May) : @ProFootballTalk Jaylen Warren: Steelers' special teams coach has discussed Justin Fields returning kicks.
Zero2Cool (2-May) : Season officially ending tonight for Bucks ... sad face
Zero2Cool (2-May) : Giannis Antetokounmpo is listed as out for tonight's game.
dfosterf (2-May) : Surprisingly low initially is my guess cap wise, but gonna pay the piper after that
dfosterf (2-May) : The number on Love is going to be brutal.
Zero2Cool (2-May) : May 3rd. Extension day for Jordan Love. (soonest)
Zero2Cool (1-May) : USFL MVP QB Alex McGough moved to WR. So that's why no WR drafted!
earthquake (1-May) : Packers draft starters at safety ever few years. Collins, Clinton-Dix, Savage
beast (1-May) : Why can't the rookies be a day 1 starter? Especially when we grabbed 3 of them at the position
dfosterf (1-May) : Not going to be shocked if Gilmore goes to the Lions.
dfosterf (1-May) : I hear you dhazer, but my guess would be Gilmore Colts and Howard Vikings from what little has been reported.
Mucky Tundra (30-Apr) : S learn from McKinney who learns from Hafley who learns from the fans. Guaranteed Super Bowl
Zero2Cool (30-Apr) : could*
Zero2Cool (29-Apr) : Safeties should learn from Xavier.
dhazer (29-Apr) : And what about grabbing a Gilmore or Howard at CB ? Those are all Free Agents left
dhazer (29-Apr) : out of curiosity do they try and sign Simmons or Hyde to let these young safeties learn from, they can't be day 1 starters.
Zero2Cool (29-Apr) : I miss having Sam Shields.
Zero2Cool (29-Apr) : Not that he's making excuses, just pointing it out
Zero2Cool (29-Apr) : That's for dang sure. Make our erratic kicker have no excuse!
