I think Graham would substantially improve the Packers passing game. But that still doesn't make him worth trading a 1st round pick, and solid offensive linemen, and a huge salary.

Jimmy Graham is a Ferrari, sure, it would be nice to have one, but the Packers are better off with a truck that does the heavy lifting. The Truck (Richard Rodgers) is going to cost less overall and have lower insurance payments and give more production where needed.

Graham is a Wide Receiver and sooner Seattle uses him as such, sooner they will get more bang for their buck. Right now, they have a Ferrari sitting in the garage while they try racing with a Ford Fairmont.

BTW, did you really think we didn't know which player was the truck?

2013: Finley's last year
2014: NFC Championship

I know it's not all about Finley, but I think one has to admit it seems strange, that the team had it's best success over the last 8 years, in the 3 years that Finley has seen the least amount of games.

Graham is overrated and overpaid because he put up high fantasy stats getting 140 targets a year from Drew Brees. For all that athleticism he hasn't really ever been a huge run after catch guy, that's because he runs crappy routes and doesn't get much separation. Athleticism does not equal talent.

Graham is overrated, yes.
Graham is better than R. Rodgers, we can't lie.
Graham would make our offense a lot better because our biggest problem is near the red zone and Graham is a specialist in that area. He can certainly catch touchdowns.

Having said that would I trade Graham for Rogers today? Difficult question and I think I would say no.

Seattle has no idea how to use Graham and Russell Wilson has zero chemistry with him, furthermore they do have some other good TEs so the trade made no sense it was a huge mistake.

Baseball players are principally paid and evaluated by WAR; and so are most football players though no such official stats exists; but every now and then a GM goofs.

Z2C is wrong: Graham is only the chassis of a Ferrari, look under the hood🤣. The question of how good a player is based on one thing: how many can do what he does. If Graham gets 2000 yards on 150 targets from Brees, but everyone else gets 2001 or more; then he’s actually the worst there is; if everyone else gets 300 yards or less, then he’s a superstar. This is the foundation of WAR. Think about this: if Abby, Janis, Pinkard, etc could all do what Cobb did, Cobb would not even have been offered a min. contract.

W/ a broken down Shockey the 2 years before Graham became a supposed stud, NO’s offense was [very slightly] statistically better than they were the last 4 years w/ Graham. Using WAR, this indicates Graham is no better than a broken down Shockey and R.Rodgers is better than a broken down Shockey. [ya, that’s a slippery slope😝; but not all logically invalid arguments are wrong]

This seems outrageous to you because you are allowing one tiny stat to bias/corrupt 100% of your thinking. CM3 may end up with 15 sacks-Who cares?! That’s 15 good plays out of 1000. I and GB will be judging Clay on how he did on 1000 plays, not 15. In 2014, Graham had 124 Targets, 86 catches for 889 yards in 775 snaps. How many catches and yards would Rodgers get w/ 124 Brees targets? I’ll bet its close. Your opinion of Graham was clearly 100% formed by his play during those 86 catches. But on 2 of those 86 he fumbled and LOST the ball. For 38 other plays the ball was thrown to him and he didn’t catch it, so that’s 38 more failures that need to be balanced against the 84 positive plays. An what did he do the other 651 snaps? Did he block? Did he run his routes w/ the same gusto knowing he wasn’t getting the ball? Did he have zero, 100, 200 or 650 more bad plays to weigh against those 84 successful ones? Saints ran 1100 plays, what was he doing the other 325 snaps when he wasn’t on the field: did he call over young TE Hill and counsel him and explain defenses and reads? He had 2 penalties that didn’t count in the 775; that’s 2 more bad plays to balance against the 84 good ones.

Here’s something else: the games last 3 hrs x 16 weeks or 48 hours. But, throughout the year maybe 1200 hours are spent preparing for those 48 hours. Of those other 1152 hours, is he doing things to make the team better, the same or worse? Is he doing things to make other players better the same or worse?

Now we don’t have solid info on 99% of this. Heck, even good catches might have been bad plays if the wrong route was run sabotaging a better play that otherwise would have occurred. We don’t know nor will we know anything concrete, for example, about Sean Richardson’s neck injury. But if GB releases him with an injury settlement, we should kinda assume the neck injury is really bad. New Orleans was due to pay Graham 8M this year and took a 9M cap hit to trade him; that should give you an idea of what the Saints thought about Graham: this indicates they don’t think he’s all that special, that his WAR is not that high, that on 124 Brees targets most can get 86 catches and 889 yards. It also provides insight into how the Saints feel of Graham’s other 1152 hours and his performance during the 1016 snaps that were not catches.

Martha Careful (10-May) : 1. this is true of all our linemen. 2. His run block is fine. 3. If all OL played like he has, we would win SB.
beast (10-May) : Meyers pass blocking is really good, his run blocking is really not.
Zero2Cool (9-May) : Packers have claimed DE Spencer Waege off of waivers from the 49ers and waived DT Rodney Mathews.
Zero2Cool (9-May) : And the OL protections seem to be good.
Zero2Cool (9-May) : I really don't know lol. I don't see him getting blown up.
Zero2Cool (9-May) : -3 buwahhhahaaha
Mucky Tundra (9-May) : 4th
Zero2Cool (9-May) : because he's 1st
Mucky Tundra (9-May) : Myers isn't even the 3rd best C on the roster atm
Martha Careful (9-May) : I am not sure I understand the Myers hate. He was consistently our third best lineman. RG and LT were worse.
beast (9-May) : Just saying I don't think moving Myers would help Myers.
beast (9-May) : Center is usually considered the easiest position physically if you can handle the snap stuff.
Mucky Tundra (8-May) : Bust it is then
Zero2Cool (8-May) : Context. Sounds like Myers won't be cross-trained. C or bust.
Mucky Tundra (8-May) : @BookOfEli_NFL Packers pass game coordinator, Jason Vrable said that Jayden Reed and Dontayvion Wicks shared a placed in Florida while train
Mucky Tundra (8-May) : For now...
Zero2Cool (8-May) : Packers go about evaluating their "best five," OL coach Luke Butkus makes on thing clear: "Josh Myers is our center."
beast (8-May) : Though I'm a bit surprised letting go of CBs, I thought we needed more not less
beast (8-May) : It was confusing with two DB Anthony Johnson anyways
Zero2Cool (8-May) : Packers actually had Ray Lewis on the phone.
Zero2Cool (8-May) : Packers wanted to draft Ray Lewis. Ravens stole him.
Martha Careful (6-May) : Happy 93rd Birthday to the Greatest Baseball Player of All-Time...Willie Mays
Zero2Cool (6-May) : Walter Stanely's son
buckeyepackfan (6-May) : and released CB Anthony Johnson and DL Deandre Johnson and waived/injured WR Thyrick Pitts (thigh-rick).
buckeyepackfan (6-May) : The Green Bay Packers have signed WR Julian Hicks, OL Lecitus Smith (luh-SEET-us) and WR Dimitri Stanley
Zero2Cool (6-May) : Petty, but it's annoying me how the NFL is making the schedule release an event.
Mucky Tundra (4-May) : @mattschneidman Matt LaFleur on how he tore his pec: “Got in a fight with the bench press. I lost.”
Zero2Cool (3-May) : Jordan Love CAN sign an extension as of today. Might tak weeks/months though
TheKanataThrilla (3-May) : Packers decline 5th year option for Stokes
Mucky Tundra (3-May) : @ProFootballTalk Jaylen Warren: Steelers' special teams coach has discussed Justin Fields returning kicks.
Zero2Cool (2-May) : Season officially ending tonight for Bucks ... sad face
Zero2Cool (2-May) : Giannis Antetokounmpo is listed as out for tonight's game.
dfosterf (2-May) : Surprisingly low initially is my guess cap wise, but gonna pay the piper after that
dfosterf (2-May) : The number on Love is going to be brutal.
Zero2Cool (2-May) : May 3rd. Extension day for Jordan Love. (soonest)
Zero2Cool (1-May) : USFL MVP QB Alex McGough moved to WR. So that's why no WR drafted!
earthquake (1-May) : Packers draft starters at safety ever few years. Collins, Clinton-Dix, Savage
beast (1-May) : Why can't the rookies be a day 1 starter? Especially when we grabbed 3 of them at the position
dfosterf (1-May) : Not going to be shocked if Gilmore goes to the Lions.
dfosterf (1-May) : I hear you dhazer, but my guess would be Gilmore Colts and Howard Vikings from what little has been reported.
Mucky Tundra (30-Apr) : S learn from McKinney who learns from Hafley who learns from the fans. Guaranteed Super Bowl
Zero2Cool (30-Apr) : could*
Zero2Cool (29-Apr) : Safeties should learn from Xavier.
dhazer (29-Apr) : And what about grabbing a Gilmore or Howard at CB ? Those are all Free Agents left
dhazer (29-Apr) : out of curiosity do they try and sign Simmons or Hyde to let these young safeties learn from, they can't be day 1 starters.
Zero2Cool (29-Apr) : I miss having Sam Shields.
Zero2Cool (29-Apr) : Not that he's making excuses, just pointing it out
Zero2Cool (29-Apr) : That's for dang sure. Make our erratic kicker have no excuse!
packerfanoutwest (28-Apr) : having a great long snapper is gold
Zero2Cool (28-Apr) : LaFleur looking like he had some weight. Coachin will do that lol
