Greene wasn't the only coach who walked away inexplicably this offseason. It seems to me that something's up, one way or another. Either they were told to take a walk, or they chose to, because they didn't like what was (or wasn't?) going on. We just don't know.

"The Green Bay Packers will not bring back assistant special teams coach Chad Morton next season, two sources told Press-Gazette Media.

Morton, who played seven years in the NFL with four teams primarily as a returner, served in his coaching role with the Packers since February 2010.

The Packers’ special teams units slipped from 12th in 2012 to 20th in 2013 in the Dallas Morning News’ annual rankings, which take into account 22 statistical categories. "

"Kevin Greene resigned Jan. 17 as outside linebackers coach after five seasons. Greene said in a team release that he wanted to spend more time with his family."

Assistant coaches come and assistant coaches go. They don't make very much money in most cases. If they are former good players, they probably have a nice nest egg tucked away. It's entirely believable they could just decide to give up the comparative pittance they receive. I suppose it's also believable they could stay and coach mostly for the "love of the game". I don't think we should read too much into the departure of Greene and the other guy.

Capers, on the other hand, is presumably pretty well paid; He is a policy maker and a difference maker; I, for one, like the difference he has made - remembering the plain vanilla days of Robert Sanders and the others before.
