I've said it many times before and I've come to truly adopt it as my basic political doctrine: The only thing worse than a Democrat or a Republican is a staunch partisan. Anyone that thinks most politics these days are not a complete joke is completely buying into the political propaganda spewed by both sides. I'm still absolutely disguised at how much money was spent on the election. Are you kidding me? All Americans should be furious about that. Candidates are bought, and it's truly pathetic. Continually dumping billions into elections and bull shit wars/nation building instead of focusing more on nation building here in the United States. What a freakin' joke. All the while, countries like China, India, Japan, et al. continue to invest heavily in education (despite the methods to actually do so) and continue to shoot past the United States in every category (math, science, engineering, health, economics). America may have the biggest and baddest military at the moment, but that's not going to matter a whole lot once we're a country of imbeciles, relatively speaking of course.

The answers to the worlds biggest problems are going to come from innovative thinking in food production (the global demand for food will double in the next 50ish years), water resources (wait until water wars begin around the world and see how quickly priorities change), energy independence (the true route to the next world super power), economic strategies, and health care. Many more answers are needed in all of those areas and they aren't coming fast enough. Those answers will come from unimaginably complicated science and require an extensive investment in education to obtain. Unfortunately for America, but good for the World, the emerging super powers get that and are taking steps that are necessary to work towards the answers. Step away from idiotic partisan politics and acknowledge the things that will actually affect everyone on the planet for the predictable future. I'm very grateful for the United States military, but not necessarily in how they are used.

To truly become a sustainable society for future generations, whole sale changes need to be made and I don't see Obama (or Romney) making those changes (or any politician selected by mainstream politics). Even if they wanted to, the American political monster would never allow it to happen. Why would they? Politicians jobs are to be re-elected, not to actually do anything positive. I'm convinced that no politician actually makes decisions on the basis of what is best for you, me, or our families. I think it's important to realize that.

So what's new? The middle class always pays all the bills, but do we need to elect these billionaire fucks to openly rub it in our faces? That answer is no.

What country or economy does not have the Rich and not rich. There has always been a few that control the most and the rest that do not. Whether those rich are Kings and queen, dictators, private citizens or government. Of those choices, let it be private citizens, especially over Government.

The movie American President was dead on the Obama election strategy.

We have serious problems to solve, and we need serious people to solve them. And whatever your particular problem is, I promise you, Barrack Obama is not the least bit interested in solving it. He is interested in two things and two things only: making you afraid of it and telling you who's to blame for it. That, ladies and gentlemen, is how you win elections.

This same exact quote applies to every politician. God knows Mitt Romney is ABSOLUTELY no exception and is as bad as they come as well. As I said, as a politician, it's only about getting elected and/or re-elected (and in turn pandering to the special interests that allowed him or her to get elected in the first place). It's not about solving problems or doing anything for the American people. It amazes me how many still believe otherwise. I really don't think any individual, no matter how good or pure they may be in their hearts, could ever make it to a big time political office without selling themselves out to donors and special interest. It's just not how the system works these days. I believe both Barack Obama and Mitt Romney are good people. Unfortunately, that doesn't matter once they reach such a high level of politics. Most decisions and opinions have already been made for them. They are just there to carry them out.

Politics reminds me of the only goal of corporations: to maximize profits for their shareholders. THAT is their goal, not to actually provide services or goods (or great health care in an example of private health insurance). Anything else that happens, good or bad, is just a byproduct of the pursuit of maximizing profits. Every decision is made with profits in mind. I'm not insinuating that's a bad thing, but it is important to keep that fact in mind when evaluating different things. And at times, it certainly can be a bad thing, especially with increasing privatization.
