‘Route, hands, speed,’ said actor Matthew McConaughey about Golden, a fellow Texas alum
The draft started late for a lot of you, so I’m sure at least some of you guys went to bed after the Green Bay Packers picked Texas receiver Matthew Golden with the 23rd overall pick. Beyond the big pop that president and CEO Mark Murphy got when he announced the pick , here’s what you missed from the subsequent social media reaction.
First of all, it looks like an old friend has been keeping an eye on the Packers this week. If you think that Jaire Alexander is going to go away quietly, think again. He’s followed Golden on Instagram after reaching out to free agent signing Nate Hobbs this offseason. The Packers started the first phase of their offseason program this week, but it’s all been virtual due to the draft being in Green Bay. There is a non-zero chance that Alexander returns to the Packers’ facility, whether they want that or not, when OTAs begin in-person sessions. Jaire Watch 2025 is about to begin.

Here’s actor Matthew McConaughey’s scouting report on Golden. McConaughey is a Longhorns superfan and graduated from the University of Texas.
APC’s own Eric Alyce made this beautiful Photoshop that went viral. Go let her know that her work is always top tier.
welcome to green bay matthew golden
Ty Schmit, playing the character of Mad Mel Kiper, went ballistic on the Pat McAfee Show stream of the draft. Schmit is the resident Packers fan of the group.

IT'S ABOUT FUCKING TIME" ~ Mad Mel Kiper
GO PACK GO
The guys at Cheesehead TV got the shot from across the draft stage when the pick was made. So, no, the league didn’t pump in sound for the pop the Golden selection got. Fans really did go that crazy for the pick.
I can't believe we streamed this live on CHTV...

Aaron Rodgers probably has a lot of thoughts right now. Spoiler: He always has a lot of thoughts.
