This was a very important move to make, even if it is mostly only symbolic.

Starks EARNED it. He's making plays while Lacy has done nothing.
I really thought Lacy was going to be a HUGE part of our offense.
Very disappointing.

Perhaps this will light a fire under Lacy's ass making him more effective for the last 1/4 of the season.
However, unless the terrible play of the o-line improves, the running game will continue to struggle no matter who totes the rock.
The o-line is the core of our offensive woes.
At ant rate, Starks has earned the starting job at this point.

People forget how good Starks is. Iirc, he was rated as the #2 back in the country his junior year, we only got a deal on him, because of the shoulder injury. Missed his senior year due to surgery.

Let's see if he holds up under the increased workload.

Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

I never understood how some people were thinking and/or wanting Starks to be cut or be the #3 RB this offseason. Give me a break. The guy can play. He's definitely not great or elite, but he's a very good player and a very good #2 RB. He's potentially an average to decent #1 RB depending on the offensive line play. If he receives 80% of the snaps or more, he would like be very good.

He's not on the level of Ahman Green or Eddie Lacy (normally) but I'd put him on par with Dorsey Levens.

Let's see:

Lacy runs for 8/9 yards... what do you do? Pull him out, throw in the next 11 plays, run a few with Starks, put him back in.
He runs 3, then 6. You are in 3rd and 1 what do you do? Pull him and throw a pass...
Starks run for 9/12 yards, you pull him, put Lacy in, he runs for 1 yard, you throw in the next 27 plays.

I think Tom Clemments has no idea about how to handle the running game.

I'm not saying that Lacy is playing great but coaching is surely contributing to his erratic play, there's no rythm and Lacy is a back to play every single down.

Starks is a very good RB and is smart. I'm happy for him because he really deserves it, he was very underrated so far. If I were Clemments having two excellent RBs I would play one on every play and both of them in many many plays. I don't care how, I want my best players on the field.

If anyone thinks this is big news or even news at all, you're not really paying much attention. When it comes to the Packers and who is starting at RB, it is irrelevant. The Packers have consistently rolled with the hotter hand and that will not change. If Starks gets stuffed several times and Lacy is getting penetration, Lacy will be the one getting the bulk of the remaining touches.

Mucky Tundra (30-Jan) : Now that's a thought, maybe they're looking at the college ranks? Maybe not head coaches but DC/assistant DCs with league experience?
beast (30-Jan) : College Coaches wouldn't want that publicly, as it would hurt recruiting and they might not get the job.
beast (30-Jan) : I thought they were supposed to publicly announce them, at least the NFL ones. Hafley was from college, so I believe different rules.
Mucky Tundra (30-Jan) : Who knows who they're interviewing? I mean, nobody knew about Hafley and then out of nowhere he was hired
beast (30-Jan) : I wonder what's taking so long with hiring a DL coach, 2 of the 3 known to interview have already been hired elsewhere.
Zero2Cool (27-Jan) : Packers coach Matt LaFleur hires Luke Getsy as senior assistant, extends Rich Bisaccia's deal

Zero2Cool (24-Jan) : Raiders hired someone from the elderly home.
dfosterf (24-Jan) : I'm going with a combination of the two.

Zero2Cool (23-Jan) : Fake news. Cowboys say no
Zero2Cool (23-Jan) : Mystery candidate in the Cowboys head coaching search believed to be Packers ST Coordinator Rich Bisaccia.
beast (23-Jan) : Also why do both NYC teams have absolutely horrible OL for over a decade?
beast (23-Jan) : I wonder why the Jets always hire defensive coaches to be head coach
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Still HC positions available out there. I wonder if Hafley pops up for one
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Trent Baalke is out as the Jaguars GM.
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Jeff Hafley would have been a better choice, fortunately they don't know that. Someone will figure that out next off season
