Lets see... the oline stabilized with Tauscher and Clifton becoming healthy and playing the majority of the snaps.
How does that speak to Campen and Fonteno's ability to develop lineman and put together a group.
I think it would be a mistake to allow that group to continue on with this inconsistent group. Seriously, we have the same Achilles heal for the past couple of years yet adjusting the playcalling and having two dinosaurs at tackle string solidify a underachieving group to give two coaches that have done little a pass for yet another year,

What it proves is that, given the right talent, they can coach an effective O-line. However, I will say that I think it is very difficult for us as fans to pass judgments on position coaches. It's hard to tell how much credit or blame should go to the players vs. the position coaches. That's why I've never gotten much involved in discussions about firing position coaches. The head coach makes that call based on about a hundred times more information than we have.
I do think we can pass judgment on the head coach, though, as he sets the tone for the entire team, and that's something that we can pick up on as fans.
I really think a lot of the O-line problems early in the season would've been avoided if the coaches had allowed T.J. Lang to compete for the RT position. I see the mid-season improvement as being due not so much to the arrival of Tauscher as to the departure of Allen Barbre. His pass-blocking was terrible.
