Don't get me wrong, Alexander is one of the top 32 CBs and probably one of the top 16 CBs when fully healthy, but #1? 🤔
He was truely elite (top 5 and maybe competing for #1), but I think that was one season, and he has that potential to be truely elite, but most seasons he's just been great (top 16 or top 10), but not elite.
If he demands #1 in the NFL money, I might have to take a look at other options, especially now that we got Stokes and Douglas locked up for the next 3 years.
If he wants bottom range of the top 5, I'd probably do that, as contracts rotate and some will pass him in time.
Just to give some idea of CB contract ranges, average per season
#1 $20 million
#3 $19.5
#4 18
#5 17.25
#7 and #8 16.5
#10 14.5
I got no problem putting him in the top 10, maybe even the bottom of the top 5. But above #1? IMO he just hasn't quite proved he's worth that yet.
