Every year we seem to do a selection of who we are all predicting to be our first round guy. Lot's of unknowns and I changed the title just in case we don't have a first rounder.

My guess

Josh Jones OT Houston

Let's get us a Josh Jones that lasts on the roster.

Pick your guy.

Mekhi Becton OT Louisville
Walter Football wrote:

Late in the 2019 regular season, WalterFootball.com surveyed scouts for players who were being underrated for the 2020 NFL Draft, and Becton was one of the names that was returned. Becton went under the radar in 2019, but he has a ton of talent to translate to the NFL, as multiple team sources say Becton is a freak show athlete for such a large blocker. That was put on display at the combine, where Becton ripped off an amazing 40-yard dash for being such a massive offensive lineman. Some team sources believe Becton could draw interest from teams in a trade up because he is such a rare prospect.

While Becton (6-7,330) is huge, he is a good athlete for his size and moves pretty well in space. He does a nice job in the ground game of sustaining his blocks. Even though he is massive, Becton is not a true bull who overpowers defenders. He makes it tough for them to get free with his size as he turns and manipulates them. In pass protection, he needs to improve his hand placement as he can get too wide and let defenders get their hands in chest. That can make Becton have problems with bull rushes, but overall, he is a reliable pass protector. Becton has the quickness and agility to defend speed rushes with the size to shut down bull rushes when his technique is sound. Becton has a ton of upside for the NFL and is truly a rare prospect.

It's very difficult to know who will be there at 30.

Perhaps Patrick Queen LSU LB. There will still be quality WRs available in the 2nd round.

I'm thinking it's going to be one of the following
a WR, a CB, a RB
ILB Kenneth Murray
ILB Patrick Queen
OT Josh Jones
or QB Jordan Love.

WR, CB, and RB each have at least four potential contenders, that I didn't want to name them all.

But probably going to be a WR as Gute said he had two main goals for this off-season, in getting explosive offensive weapons and the ILBer position.

While the Packers have other holes, they haven't touched the offensive weapon part yet.

There are too many to choose from, and Gute track history, especially with LaFleur are too limited to try to guess if he's going for speed explosive or YAC explosive.

The two most similar schemes in Rams (speed) and 49erd (YAC) went opposite ways on that too. I'm guessing YAC.

If I had to narrow it down to five (in no order)
~ WR Denzel Mims
~ WR Laviska Shenault
~ WR Brandon Aiyuk
~ CB Trevon Diggs
~ CB Jaylon Johnson

If they looking for pure speed then WR Jalen Reagor instead.

I don’t recognize any of the names. Just another reason why I come here. I learn a lot about who is who by the posters here.

My preference is to trade back into the early 2nd and take a WR. Aiyuk, Reagor, Pittman there should be alot of guys available in the early-mid 2nd who'd be 1st rounders in other years. If they stay at 30 I'd be hoping Denzel Mims was still there.

Austin Jackson, OT, USC

I then would see a trade up into round two to grab a WR. KJ Hamler would be my pick.

Hamler is freaking lighting in a bottle, extremely explosive! Problem is that bottle is quite small, as he's UNDER 5'9", 180 and at times he struggles with catching passes, with a 16.9% drop rate in 2019.

It'll be interesting what Gute does at WR though, as he says he wants to add an explosive receiver, but hasn't seemed to even sniff anyone under 6'2"... but the most explosive WRs are under that, though there are some very good bigger WRs too.

Zero2Cool (19h) : Steelers land Jalen Ramsey via Trade
dfosterf (26-Jun) : I think it would be great to have someone like Tom Grossi or Andy Herman on the Board of Directors so he/they could inform us
dfosterf (26-Jun) : Fair enough, WPR. Thing is, I have been a long time advocate to at least have some inkling of the dynamics within the board.
wpr (26-Jun) : 1st world owners/stockholders problems dfosterf.
Martha Careful (25-Jun) : I would have otherwise admirably served
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Also, no more provision for a write-in candidate, so Martha is off the table at least for this year
dfosterf (25-Jun) : You do have to interpret the boring fine print, but all stockholders all see he is on the ballot
dfosterf (25-Jun) : It also says he is subject to another ballot in 2028. I recall nothing of this nature with Murphy
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Ed Policy is on my ballot subject to me penciling him in as a no.
dfosterf (25-Jun) : I thought it used to be we voted for the whatever they called the 45, and then they voted for the seven, and then they voted for Mark Murphy
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Because I was too lazy to change my address, I haven't voted fot years until this year
dfosterf (25-Jun) : of the folks that run this team. I do not recall Mark Murphy being subject to our vote.
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Ed Policy yay or nay is on the pre-approved ballot that we always approve because we are uninformed and lazy, along with all the rest
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Weird question. Very esoteric. For stockholders. Also lengthy. Sorry. Offseason.
Zero2Cool (25-Jun) : Maybe wicked wind chill made it worse?
Mucky Tundra (25-Jun) : And then he signs with Cleveland in the offseason
Mucky Tundra (25-Jun) : @SharpFootball WR Diontae Johnson just admitted he refused to enter a game in 41° weather last year in Baltimore because he felt “ice cold”
