The problem with young potential is, that is ALL it is, potential. It’s totally unproven.
Of course it COULD work out great, or it could backfire.
It does prove that they are going all the way.

Of course those that enjoy the coaching change could say it was a win in the end, for that very same reason.

Even with MVS showing he can play, he couldn't get on the same page and trust level with Rodgers, which I think held him back more than anything last year.

But Gute is betting on if he gets guys with great potential, and get them playing time to develop that he'll win.

And as a GM, which all have limited resources, you got to make your bets somewhere.

I was a little shocked to see Daniels released. As others have mentioned the injury + fit in the new system make sense, freeing up money to extend Clark or some other youngins does as well.

I'm curious to see though if there was concern about Daniels holding out to get a new deal, or if they were worried he'd be discontent and create needless locker room drama. I've heard nothing about this so far but just speculating, he is a known talker which has both inspired and pissed off his teammates at times. Also there are plenty of players each year who hold out at TC trying to get that big extension, which for a guy on the wrong side of 30 will be his last one. Just waiting to see if now that he's gone if we'll see some of the dirt get exposed like when other players have left.

That's a lot of bad karma, the Packers throwing a Nun to the Lions...

1. You can’t keep em all.
2. They shopped...no takers
3. He signed for $4mm less, clearly he was overpaid.
4. Everything comes at a price...lock in Clark and add the Smiths or keep Daniels and Cobb (or Clay or whoever)
5. I wish we could’ve kept him or at least gotten something, but alas...

Mucky Tundra (21h) : Now that's a thought, maybe they're looking at the college ranks? Maybe not head coaches but DC/assistant DCs with league experience?
beast (23h) : College Coaches wouldn't want that publicly, as it would hurt recruiting and they might not get the job.
beast (23h) : I thought they were supposed to publicly announce them, at least the NFL ones. Hafley was from college, so I believe different rules.
Mucky Tundra (23h) : Who knows who they're interviewing? I mean, nobody knew about Hafley and then out of nowhere he was hired
beast (30-Jan) : I wonder what's taking so long with hiring a DL coach, 2 of the 3 known to interview have already been hired elsewhere.
Zero2Cool (27-Jan) : Packers coach Matt LaFleur hires Luke Getsy as senior assistant, extends Rich Bisaccia's deal

buckeyepackfan (26-Jan) : I forgot, they corrected the call a week later. Lol btw HAPPY BIRTHDAY dhazer!
buckeyepackfan (26-Jan) : That brings up the question, why wasn't Nixon down by contact? I think that was the point Kanata was making.

Zero2Cool (24-Jan) : Raiders hired someone from the elderly home.
dfosterf (24-Jan) : I'm going with a combination of the two.

Zero2Cool (23-Jan) : Fake news. Cowboys say no
Zero2Cool (23-Jan) : Mystery candidate in the Cowboys head coaching search believed to be Packers ST Coordinator Rich Bisaccia.
beast (23-Jan) : Also why do both NYC teams have absolutely horrible OL for over a decade?
beast (23-Jan) : I wonder why the Jets always hire defensive coaches to be head coach
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Still HC positions available out there. I wonder if Hafley pops up for one
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Trent Baalke is out as the Jaguars GM.
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Jeff Hafley would have been a better choice, fortunately they don't know that. Someone will figure that out next off season
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Aaron Glenn Planning To Take Jets HC Job
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Martha- C'est mon boulot! 😁
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Thank you
