Tis the season and all the NFL is playing. Playing the ole shell game and 3 card Monty. Each wants the others to think they are interested in this or that player. Player interviews may or may not be with players that any team truly wants for their upcoming rosters. Sometimes more than one team can stir up the interest in a player enough to convince another team to pick them, as they try to hold their cards close to the vest and not reveal what/who they covet the most.

Publicly teams present the face that they want the world to see, while privately the coaches/scouts/ and executives are working to research/profile the players that are usually a guarded team secret. At the same time, teams are looking carefully at the other teams to try to see beyond their smoke and mirrors. Reporters and fans and "trusted inside sources" fan the flames and keep the buzz going just as the Commissioner wants.

With the start of the 2019 NFL Draft tonight, we will at last see behind some of the curtain hiding what each NFL Team's draft intentions truly are. Teams that have had the public thinking they were interested in picking an OT, turn out choosing a DE or WR. Teams like the Raiders and the Packers have a great chance to add quality players with multiple 1st round picks. It is an opportunity to build a team with high quality players , not just collect more average players.

The "draft game" involves misdirection, bluffing, slight of hand, as well as some real honesty. The trick is to peer through the smoke and not get tricked by the mirrors. 007 would feel right at home at the NFL Draft. 😎
