This team lacks discipline. The announcers can bring up the youth in the secondary, but Tramon Williams and Davone House were making legit penalties out there. Those two are veterans. Randall Cobb played awful, and he is also a veteran. Aaron Rodgers also missed a couple of throws, though the one to Lance Kendricks was absolutely perfect.
The Clay Matthews call was awful. The league will defend the call, as they don't want the perception that the officials are affecting the outcome of games to get out there. I think it's too late for that.
With that said, we shouldn't be fixated on that one penalty. The game was well-officiated. It wasn't like the Vikings game, where the officials clearly blew several calls that influenced the outcome of the game. Most of the penalties called against the Packers today were penalties. I saw a lot of holding on the offensive line, and a lot of grabbing by the secondary. That drive with three defensive PIs on the Packers was well officiated. They were all penalties. The team needs to focus on those mistakes, and clean things up. Otherwise, they'll keep putting themselves in position where a bad call against Clay Matthews or whoever can and will influence the game.
