Do they have to celebrate after every play?
Yes, they must celebrate after every play because it's now part of the fabric of their culture. Sometimes I get the feeling they're celebrating to let everyone know, including the coach, they really do love football. Sometimes I feel they don't even want to celebrate, they just know it's expected of them. Sometimes it looks so foolish, so contrived, it makes me laugh.

As a card carrying curmudgeon I hate all the theatrics. Especially on routine plays. Even Packer receivers make it out to be some kind of big event when they get a simple first down. But it is the way the game is played today.

The NFL took notice of the "No Fun League" moniker that was hung on them and in one of the very few instances, they relented. Probably was a bargaining chip they tossed on the pile during CBA sessions because they really didn't care one way or the other and they used it to get something they wanted more.

I will admit I liked seeing Reggie get excited or Gilbert Brown doing his Gravedigger routine. (At least some of the time.) Gilbert got carried away.

In the long run it's a way to pump up the team and the crowd. I still love seeing the ball carrier toss the football to the ref and trot over to the sidelines. It's a class move. Of course that eliminates the Lambeau Leap. One of the players didn't do the leap at Thursday's game and my wife was quick to ask why not. Heck it's fun to see the little squirts get lifted up and into the stands after they score during the peewee football scrimmages halftime activities. I am sure they talk about it all week at school.

You are right Pack93z that receivers are crying about PI way too much. It reminds me of all the flopping we see in FIFA.
