As we approach the 10th anniversary of McCarthy's first game as Packers head coach, there seems to be more to be thankful for than not.  The Packers are still considered one of the best teams in the league and have very good odds to win another Super Bowl.  If someone said 10 years ago that would still be the case today, most would have been ecstatic.  By present standards, McCarthy has achieved high success at the highest level and deserves to continue on until that changes.  As far as I'm concerned, McCarthy's seat should feel about as hot as the Lambeau Field bleachers in mid-December.

I do like Mike, but I just feel that he's got this MARTYBALL obsession. He tenses up when it's all on the line-namely in the playoffs. The whole team emotionally contracts...and implodes. We saw that two years ago in the playoffs and we saw it last year in the regular season.

Mike has earned the right to turn that around, but he also needs to look deep within himself. Let your balls drop, Mike. Coaching scared will get you to the playoffs, if you have a good team. But it won't take you all the way.

Remember in '10 when he had everyone sized for rings BEFORE the game? We need THAT Mike.

Mike's seat is cooler than the other side of the pillow!

Thankfully Ted and the upper brass don't pay any attention to writers and fans !

The only way I see Mike losing his job is if he goes 2-14 or something crazy like that. Even if we don't make the play-offs at 9-7, Mike will be back next year to give it another shot.

Depending on the defensive numbers, Dom might have to go if the season turns out to be a disaster, but I don't really see any way we fire Mike.

McCarthy's tenure in Green Bay is secure at least until Aaron Rodgers exits stage left.
After that there will probably be a number of changes for various reasons and all bets will be off.

I would not be surprised if the seat is very hot under Mike McCarthy. He's been with the same team for a decade and sometimes your mantra falls on deaf ears and what is best is a new bark from a new dog.

The Pittsburgh Penguins and Cleveland Cavaliers both fired their coaches mid-season and won their respective league championships. Denver Broncos made a head coaching change and won the Super Bowl the following year. Baltimore Ravens fired their offensive coordinator mid-season and won the Super Bowl that same season.

I don't think his seat is not now, but somebody does have their hand on the knob to turn it up. And in the NFL that can heat up faster than an Induction Stove.

I do often wonder how much of McCarthy's success is the result of having HOF QBs playing for him. I wonder what coaches like John Harbaugh, Sean Payton, Lovie Smith might have done if they inherited Favre and was given Rodgers to follow. Would they have been better.

But I guess McCarthy did hire him.
