The NFL will make a fashion statement in 2016. Or, at least a statement against fashion.

I thought the hoodie was funny. Slowest receiver in football attaching an extra little parachute behind him to slow him down more. Most guys try to have as little equipment on as possible to increase speed.

If I were a player I wouldn't want one because a defender could make a "hoodie" tackle, that would be the same as a "horse collar" tackle. Higher possibility of an injury.

I was kind of surprised it was allowed because it looks like a player safety risk. You ever have someone yank your hoodie? Hurts like a bitch. Imagine that while running full speed and someone brings you down by it.

If this was all about safety they just need to enforce existing rules. If it so everyone can see the players name then eliminate long hair be it dreadlocks or CM3 flowing hair.

It is just another useless rule.

If a players hair is long enough that it reaches the jersey, it's part of the uniform and can be used to pull the player down, therefore it's up to the player to keep their hair short.

When you're chasing a ballcarrier with other 200-300lb athletes pushing and shoving you around it is very possible to inadvertently grab someone's hoodie and yank them to the ground. It's not that hard to understand the concept at all and it's obviously a very valid rule to help with player safety.

We need to understand that these are human beings, not machines and just because there is a rule preventing horse collar tackling doesn't mean it will never happen unintentionally.

Or even intentionally if the defender has to make a choice between giving up a TD or getting a penalty.
