When you are consistently drafting in the high 20s or later, (not a coincidence, btw), you aren't going to get a lot of bug impact guys like you would expect teams like the Raiders to be able to draft each year. The goal is to get solid contributors every year, which Ted Thompson has done.

That there are no "sexy" names in this year's draft doesn't make it a disaster...the LB crop was thin, as was the TE crop, so picking guys he thought the team could develop was the way to go.

As I said before, when Ted Thompson starts making drafts where no one contributes, I will comment about it but until then I will trust that he made the best moves at the time without the benefit of hindsight.

Example: If GB picked up Spikes for 3M per for 2 years after May 12. That is one roster spot not going to a young player, reducing the odds of developing a 1st contract stud. Every rep Spikes takes in practice or game detracts from the development of a Bradford, Palmer, Ryan and Joe Thomas. And that's 6M lost that could have gone toward keeping a core guy like Daniels or Hayward. The odds dictate that Spikes is not going to be better than the 4 youngsters, if he is, he wont be better by any significant amount and the odds increase an outsider will negatively affect the culture. Now if those 4 ILBs stink, Spikes is of good football character and you're in the hunt; then you break the rule and sign Spikes.

If none of the younger players can beat him out, than he plays and the team is better off. If the younger guys end up developing to where they can win the position, than they play and we can release the FA, and again the team is better off.

Having a starting position filled with maybe players might end up paying off in 2 or 3 years, when they are ready to get new contracts. But if they don't the team is just weaker because we didn't look outside of the team and draft.

You seriously believe you can project a "much better qualified player" over a full time staff of NFL scouts and a GM? Which players did Ted Thompson pass on that have you so upset?

Everyone knows that the way you determine how qualified a player is is by the number of people who know their names. How can a player be good if no one has heard of them. That's why all star games are such great events, they always have the most popular guys and that's what makes them the best players.

The more people who have heard of the guy the better the guy is it is that simple.

I guess in retrospect that Tony Mandarich pick was really good. Everyone knew the name and cheered when he got picked.

Gee guys, thanks for setting me straight. All these years I thought we were supposed to get the best players and not worry about name recognition.

I say The Packers should just tank the season from the get go!

ZTheir season is ALREADY DOOMED, why the hell try?

Start all the rookies and 2nd year guys so they get experience.

Look forward to that #1 overall pick in 2016 so Ted can finally draft a decent player!

Of course Barry Sanders' kid will be entering the draft, so let's just tell Ted to draft him!

Damn, this is one of my best ideas, no more pressure for 2015!

Sadly, it was an even better pick for the Lions, Chiefs and Falcons!! 🤬

I would rather have a pick judged to be good the next January (or later) than in April. I wish (although I'm still not convinced he isn't just trolling us 😲 ) Smokey would let the picks get on the field and play before telling us they can't play.

dfosterf (25-Jun) : of the folks that run this team. I do not recall Mark Murphy being subject to our vote.
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Ed Policy yay or nay is on the pre-approved ballot that we always approve because we are uninformed and lazy, along with all the rest
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Weird question. Very esoteric. For stockholders. Also lengthy. Sorry. Offseason.

Mucky Tundra (25-Jun) : And then he signs with Cleveland in the offseason
