re: the nose tackle. I've already read hints that Capers won't implement a system requiring a 2-gap nose tackle. I'm sure they will be expected to take a 2 gap responsibility some times, but what Dom talks about is keeping the offense guessing (THANK GOD), meaning gap responsibilities will change during games.

They say Pickett fits the bill perfectly. they could A) be telling the truth, or 😎 setting up a smoke-screen in order to position themselves to pick up a different NT...

Whatever it is, I do trust Capers to wring every last bit of talent out of our roster.

Bozz with the assist.

Like Capers said in his first presser.... coming in here with a scheme and particular guys in mind is a recipe for failure. Thats what Sanders did.
You gotta move, disguise and confuse constantly to get pressure. Its what Philly does every single game, and it shows. And that recipe doesn't necessarily require certain ingredients that the typical 3-4 scheme would.

Ya I think Capers specifically talked about Kampman in his intereview and stated that he would use him. And use all the guys based on their strengths.

We need to keep Kuhn, Bigby, Hunter, and Williams. Maybe Brady Poppinga.

I like John Kuhn, he's a pretty good blocking FB and he has shown his ability to catch the ball out of the backfield.

I agree with Packnic. No way we get rid of Kampy. He is someone we need, especially with the switch to 3-4. Kampy is one tough kid and as hard working as they come. He's the guy you want on your team.

I've had a soft spot for R Martin, but feelings aside, he's the 5th best WR on the roster. If we could get something good for him, I'd take it in a heart beat.

Kuhn is a FB. Hate to say it, but I don't get too attached to FBs. I think the reason people do is because it's a thankless job, that you work your tail off, and nobody gives you any cred. Is he consistently blowing up LBs? If he is, I'm not seeing it. Appears like an average FB to me. Sorry. Like the guy, don't get me wrong, but if we can get something good for him...

Tauscher has had better days. He's on the decline now.

Lee I wouldn't trade. Favre made something good out of Lee and I've seen him shed tacklers like they were rag dolls. Aaron is a more WR man, but watch, as he gets a little older, he'll start hitting TEs more. Lee is underused. Give him more balls and you'll see I'm right.

Mark Tauscher
- Re-sign for Veteran's minimum. If he doesn't pan out in Training Camp, cut him. If another team offers a payday, let him go with them.

Colin Cole
- If he rejected a fair contract, then he doesn't want to be here.

Michael Montgomery
- He's the odd-man-out with the new defense.

John Kuhn
- Best FB on our team. We re-sign him. Having two fullbacks is actually fine.

Brady Poppinga
- Let him test the waters. If it doesn't work out, we bring him back and let him try it out in Training Camp.

John Bodiford - RFA
Nah.

Ruvell Martin - RFA
- He's the best blocker on the team and is indirectly A-Rod's favorite receiver. If he works on his catching, he'll be solid.

Jarrett Bush - RFA
- Gotta keep him for special teams.

Atari Bigby - RFA
- Let him compete with Rouse.

Jason Hunter - RFA
- Let him try the system. If it doesn't pan out, cut.

Tory Humphrey - ERFA
Tramon Williams - ERFA
I'm not gonna worry about ERFA's.

Poppinga isn't a FA, he resigned last offseason already.

Kuhn is also a RFA.

All of the FA and ERFA will be resign and compete for jobs.

Which just leaves the UFA which are

Mark Tauscher
Colin Cole
Michael Montgomery

The Packers already offered Cole IMO more than he's worth and he turned it down so he's going to FA and very likely to be gone.

I wouldn't mind healthy Montgomery and Tauscher back at the right prices.

Also the 3-4 DB play A LOT more zone normally. Harris can't play zone. Maybe Dom will make a 3-4 with man to man but normally 3-4 plays zone with their DBs.

And I would strongly look into a trade for Tony Gonzalez. He's better in the pass and run game than any of the Packers TEs and he can coach up the TEs like Finley. (I might ask Tony to take a little less money).

I do think it's odd that so many of us have a soft spot in our hearts for Ruvell Martin. I wonder where that comes from? It's certainly not his output on the field.

The only way I see him on our roster next season is if Ted Thompson elects not to draft a receiver this year. It would shock me if Thompson failed to draft a WR, however.

what is ERFA?

Exclusive rights free agent.

Unrestricted Free Agents

Unrestricted Free Agents (UFA) are players who have completed four or more accrued seasons of service and whose contracts have expired. They are free to sign with any club.

Restricted Free Agents

Restricted Free Agents (RFA) are players who have completed three accrued seasons of service and whose contracts have expired. They have received qualifying offers from their old clubs and are free to negotiate with any club until April 21, at which time their rights revert to their original club. If a player accepts an offer from a new club, the old club will have the right to match the offer and retain the player. If the old club elects not to match the offer, it may receive draft-choice compensation depending on the level of the qualifying offer made to the player.

Exclusive-Rights Free Agents

Exclusive-Rights Free Agents (ERFAs) are players who have completed between 0-2 accrued seasons of service whose contracts have expired. If tendered, they have no negotiating rights with other clubs and must sign their tender with their old club or sit out the season.

It would suck to be an ERFA, because if you sit out the season, you aren't accruing tenure. You're basically left without a choice but to sign the offer you're tendered.
