Do the Packers bring him in? Do the Packers sign him?

I don't know, something happened with him last year where he got in Rodgers' doghouse. Id rather just run with Monty/Janis seeing reps before I would see Boykin in the game.

well dammit i drafted Montgomery in one of my fantasy leagues lol So stop talking about bringing in others. Roll with what we have like back in 2004 i believe it was. You remember i think it was Bretts 1st losing season
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

No. If he can't even make the Carolina roster the Packers definitely do not need him.

Boykin does not have 4 years vested; he has to go through waivers.

The Bears top 4 WR missed the last game; I'll bet those jerkwads claim him, in part to prevent him from coming to GB.

After GB didn’t tender and not having a very good camp in Carolina juxtaposed against the glut of WRs that have come into the league in last few years, I would think Boykin’s options are limited other than a central division foe just being a jerkwad. But it’ll be interesting to learn how many teams, if any, claim him.

I loved Boykin in 2013 and have no idea what happened in 2014. Something happened: Maybe he was playing w/ an undisclosed injury; maybe he went nuts after his girlfriend dumped him; someone close died; perhaps it was simply making a few bad plays AR lost confidence and he lost confidence, which caused him to screw up more; maybe he had a horrific personality clash w/ another player; maybe it was not getting a single target in 2013 PO game and 1st game v. Seattle. If whatever caused his psychological downfall can be resolved-Boykin would be an asset.

He had best hands among GB WRs and dropped 5 passes in 83 targets, tying him w/ Jordy at a very good 2.4% drop rate in ‘13. But, as his focus became less divided between being in the right place at the right time and catching the ball, I expected him to lead the league in drop rate. Shockingly, in ’14 he had 2nd worst drop rate in league dropping 3 in only 12 targets.

In 2013 Outsiders, adjusting for game situations and competition, had him rated as the #32 WR, HUH, I guess that makes him a #1 [sorry couldn’t resist]. He was 49-681-3 [or 80-1110-5, if extrapolated to Jordy’s # of snaps] w/ a kinda low 59% catch rate [Jordy 67%, Jones 63%, Quarles 60%] in 663 or 59% of the snaps; 0 fumbles; 2 penalties for 15 yards; 5 drops; forced 12 missed tackles; 2 PI penalties for 37 yards were called against his defenders; and was a solid downfield blocker. PFF gave him a 5.1 grade (ranked No. 10 out of 23 Packers offensive players; ranked No. 3 out of Packers' 5 qualifying WRs). 10 of his 49 catches went for a 1st down when it was 3rd down. The guy was a dependable chain mover. And caught passes from AR, Tolzein, Flynn and Wallace.

The guy has vice grips for hands; uses his body and hands well to fight for the ball, high points the ball well, he’s not fast, but is very crafty with his moves to gain separation and he is a beast to try to tackle in the open field. He definitely knew the playbook well [for a 2nd year guy] and was a good route runner; but the one thing he had problems with was the reading on the fly. A few times he did his curl or stick right when AR expected him to turn left and vice-versa. He and AR were not reading the movement of the D the same.

He’s a good STer had 90 snaps in 2013; and was tied for 10Th in snaps on the team in 2014 w/ 160 [though missing 3 games].

My favorite play: 3rd and 16 @ Minn, does a deep crossing route at marker and AR underthrows pass short so Boykin must dive to make the catch 1 yard short of 1st; he instinctively and immediately flops himself forward 2 yards for the first and then realizing he still hasn’t been touched, started to get up, but the pursuit had arrived and he was tackled.

I wouldn't want him if Cobb had been lost for the season. I'd rather send a 7th round pick to the Giants for Jones than claim Boykin of waivers. I can only hope the Bears grab him but I don't know if Pace is that stupid.

You guys make me want to jump through the screen and piss throttle you. No washed out scrap heap receivers. We go with our young and make a super WR unit. The boys just need playing time, it will pay our mucho dividends in the future. If we lose a game or two, we have the built in excuse of shitting ourselves. Thanks Nerd!

Anyway, I'd take Jones over Myles White. I'd like to see more of Abby. We probably keep Janis either way. Pinkard has skills, but he's not ready yet.

dfosterf (26-Jun) : I think it would be great to have someone like Tom Grossi or Andy Herman on the Board of Directors so he/they could inform us
dfosterf (26-Jun) : Fair enough, WPR. Thing is, I have been a long time advocate to at least have some inkling of the dynamics within the board.
wpr (26-Jun) : 1st world owners/stockholders problems dfosterf.
Martha Careful (25-Jun) : I would have otherwise admirably served
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Also, no more provision for a write-in candidate, so Martha is off the table at least for this year
dfosterf (25-Jun) : You do have to interpret the boring fine print, but all stockholders all see he is on the ballot
dfosterf (25-Jun) : It also says he is subject to another ballot in 2028. I recall nothing of this nature with Murphy
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Ed Policy is on my ballot subject to me penciling him in as a no.
dfosterf (25-Jun) : I thought it used to be we voted for the whatever they called the 45, and then they voted for the seven, and then they voted for Mark Murphy
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Because I was too lazy to change my address, I haven't voted fot years until this year
dfosterf (25-Jun) : of the folks that run this team. I do not recall Mark Murphy being subject to our vote.
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Ed Policy yay or nay is on the pre-approved ballot that we always approve because we are uninformed and lazy, along with all the rest
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Weird question. Very esoteric. For stockholders. Also lengthy. Sorry. Offseason.
Zero2Cool (25-Jun) : Maybe wicked wind chill made it worse?
Mucky Tundra (25-Jun) : And then he signs with Cleveland in the offseason
Mucky Tundra (25-Jun) : @SharpFootball WR Diontae Johnson just admitted he refused to enter a game in 41° weather last year in Baltimore because he felt “ice cold”

dfosterf (18-Jun) : Beats the hell out of a Vikings signing
Zero2Cool (18-Jun) : Baltimore Ravens now have signed former Packers CB Jaire Alexander.
dfosterf (14-Jun) : TWO magnificent strikes for touchdowns. Lose the pennstate semigeezer non nfl backup

Martha Careful (10-Jun) : We only do the tea before whoopee, it relaxes me.
wpr (10-Jun) : That's awesome Martha.
Mucky Tundra (10-Jun) : How's the ayahuasca tea he makes, Martha?
Martha Careful (10-Jun) : Turns out he like older women
Martha Careful (10-Jun) : I wasn't supposed to say anything, but yes the word is out and we are happy 😂😂😂
Mucky Tundra (10-Jun) : I might be late on this but Aaron Rodgers is now married
Mucky Tundra (10-Jun) : Well he can always ask his brother for pointers
Zero2Cool (10-Jun) : Bo Melton taking some reps at CB as well as WR
Zero2Cool (10-Jun) : key transactions coming today at 3pm that will consume more cap in 2025
Zero2Cool (9-Jun) : Jaire played in just 34 of a possible 68 games since the start of the 2021 season
Zero2Cool (9-Jun) : reported, but not expected to practice
Zero2Cool (9-Jun) : Jenkins has REPORTED for mandatory camp
Zero2Cool (9-Jun) : I really thought he'd play for Packers.
buckeyepackfan (9-Jun) : Packers releasing Jaire Alexander.
